Were I a Hoosier fan I would be outraged and would refuse to participate in so blatant a rip-off. I would expect a collective of college students could come up with something original.

    Exactly!

We should play Ride of the Valkyries when the team flies in on jetpacks.

I like their helmets, I'd like to see us replace the white in our helmets with chrome... including the face-mask.

This is pretty embarrassing for them. I'm looking forward to the end of the multiple uniform fad.

Their basketball team should have stepped in and threatened to sit out the season if the fans started doing the chomp.

How do you know you have no tradition? When you come up with new ones.

Uh ... yeah, really. It's emblematic of a shark movie. It seems less weird to us because we've been doing it so long.

You're overthinking it brah. There's water, there's a predator with teeth...anyone who saw that movie back in the day had that song in their head when they went swimming - didn't matter if it was an ocean, lake, or pool. We could be the Florida Piranhas and that song might still work. Just go with it.

On your discovery, UF will switch to the theme song from "Gator Boys" immediately.

Well obviously I'm "going with it," but my point was it's best not to invest much thought into the logistics of traditions because some of them really don't make a whole lot of sense if you do.

To me, the pathetic thing is that they need a script to start a new tradition. The Chomp is something that they tried and the crowd responded. After a while it becomes a tradition. It tells me that the football program just doesn't have enough oomph to get their own thing up and running.

But for us Gator fans, I would think it is like someone deciding to bring cowbells to the game. It may catch on but the Miss State fans have the right to feel like someone is trying to step on their turf without an invite. Me, I always find ridicule is a better reaction (unless you take the high road and feel flattered) instead of anger. JMHO
