    Wake Forest

    260

The starting ACC fronts, minus FSU, average about 275 lbs (or 274.8). Including FSU (313, 285, 314, 294), ACC starting fronts average about 277 lbs.

According to those listings, 10 ACC teams (11, counting FSU) have a starting DL 300 lbs or more. 9 SEC teams have a starting DL 300 lbs or more.

SEC, top to bottom, has superior defensive line players, but both conferences appear to pack the beef.

I remember looking into '91 episode of FSU/SEC several years ago, and reading that we actually sponsored FSU's application to the SEC.

I don't remember it specifically from the time, just remember reading about it several years ago, when a nole on another site accused UF of attempting to block the noles from being admitted to the SEC in '91--now I can't find the source for this.

Can someone shed some light on this, if possible? Perhaps 'encyclopaedia Wormwood?' ;)

To hell with the Noles and to hell with your darling Clementine.

If we add a team, we will add a state also to widen our viewing area. Nole fans will watch us anyhow as the Pitt/Wake Forest game holds little interest to them either.

If we win, we are better. If we lose, we didn't want to be there, we gave it away, yada yada...

I hear ya. But the rationale (at the time-from what I remember) wasn't just to make FSU play a harder schedule--it was to make FSU an SEC game, rather than SEC + FSU.

We sponsored them multiple times back into the 60's, when the sec invite came they ran away like the chickens they are, here's a good link...from a nole.

Great article collection Krono. Sewanee, TN in the SEC??

I didnt' realize we wanted to help our little sister from out west. awe.....That's cute.

They can stay where they're at in the ACC and collect Jefferson-Eppes trophies.

Interesting read, never knew most of that. I think Graves had a good point.

There were multiple high profile people within the SEC that went out on a limb to get FSU an invite into the SEC in the early '90s. This was done by FSU's request and once the invite came they decided the ACC was an easier league to win a championship from. In other words they stabbed those in the back that went out on a limb to help them get the SEC invitation. There will not be another invite for FSU, they burned that bridge.
