Before we get too giddy over being ranked #1 the road ahead has many potential potholes to be navigated. There are teams between here and there that can create disappointment our Gators. We have won several close games against good teams that could have easily gone the other way. While it's true Billy has done a masterful job of coaching and has our players are currently playing up to their potential, others are piling up late victories, when Syracuse was stringing together close wins, their Coach Jim Boeheim warned that that they might not always witness miracle outcomes in the Orange's favor. These comments were largely ignored by their fans. However, this week's games have proven his words to be prophetic with losses to BC and Duke. Listen carefully to what Billy is saying and you'll find it to be much the same about our Gators this season. We fans would be wise to take heed and just enjoy the remaining games of our special team.

Another thread where a fan thinks he needs to keep other fans "grounded"

Come on. Let us enjoy the ride. Billy will take care of what matters where the team's mental state is concerned

Anyone who has followed College BBall for longtime, already knows that winning the Tournament is probably one of the toughest, if not the toughest accomplishment in all of sport. Only 17% of all of the top #1 seeds have won the championship, since the tournament expanded to 64, 28 years ago. That tells anyone, all they need to know.

Of course, some people are just blind homers ;)

I'm enjoying the run and certainly want it to end with Billy cutting down the nets at the end. Over the years I've seen threads by heart broken fans calling for the coach's head after having a great season and losing in the tournament. IMHO they didn't enjoy the run because they couldn't handle the defeat!

After watching LSU take Kentucky to overtime at their place....I'm not counting on ANYTHING.
I was also surprised to see Vandy shut down a rolling Auburn team on the road in the 2nd half too.
Either one (or both) of these teams could upset us easily.

I predict we win it all in every sport every year. Sure that comes with some disappointment but it also feels freakin' great when we do.

Nice passive aggressive shot, Born. If "enjoying the ride" means littering the game thread with complaints about officiating, overreactions to every missed shot or turnover, and repeated posts about how the season is a failure if we don't make the Final Four, I will take my grounded revelry any day.

What's so hard about interacting with the content of someone's post? Or is it a goal merely dismiss the content by categorizing it?

Maybe because the only responses they get are ones like this? There are number of ways to respond to Savage. Personally, I think we have shown that we aren't a miracle shot away from winning games against subpar teams like 'Cuse did. We have pulled away from our toughest competition on the road in three of the last four games. Only Auburn was dangerous, but that was the exception, not the rule. We have proven that our combination of defensive efficiency, offensive balance, and mature, experienced playmaking and leadership don't leave us as prone to upsets as some other teams. That doesn't mean we can't lose (in my opinion it will take a combination of high percentage, high volume three point shooting from an opponent and low percentage, high volume three point shooting by us), but I think we are unique in that we match up well with just about any opponent.

So, given that, going back-to-back as National Champions in men's basketball is truly something special.

Strangely, that does seem high, even at 17%...my guess, it's less than that now

And yes, back to back was so special, and difficult, even if we were that good. It may not be done in our lifetimes again, even for the youngins'. Statistically it would happen less than 3 times in a 100 years

Common sense says predicting to win it all is dumb. We don't need the "settle down" crowd just like we don't need the "championship or bust" crowd. Both sides are annoying.

Each fan has a right to voice his or her opinion. I'd be shocked if there was ever unanimity among posters.
