"A klutzy American tourist has sparked an international incident after he accidentally snapped the pinkie finger off a priceless 600-year-old statue in Florence, Italy. The bumbling visitor was at the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo when guards spotted him touching the ancient artwork and attempting to measure the digit. Before they could stop him, the finger had snapped off."

    oops!

I hope you're talking about who ever was in charge of putting that statue on display.

Putting out something that is 600 years old where the public can touch it seems risky at the very least.

Please. What about "Do Not Touch" is to be misunderstood? Are you saying that we shouldn't have any museums of ancient history or art anywhere worldwide? All just because some nitwit can't use some common sense or even has the slightest bit respect for the people, culture or history of the country the he is a guest of? Wow, dude. Just wow. By your way of thinking, they should just close the whole museum down. In fact, why not the whole city of Florence for that matter?

Apparently there have been plenty of folks who have visited the place that actually did respect the rules and clearly understood why they are in place.

The guy is a moron and deserves every penny of the fine that he may receive.

Common decency and common respect. These are things a mother teaches her children or is supposed to, anyway.

They didn't like us to start with.
Then, we killed an Italian woman on her honeymoon
and pulled the finger off a priceless statute...perfect!

One of the most amazing things about Europe is all the history and art you get to experience up close and personal. Anyone with half a brain knows not to touch the art. What a moron.
