Setting aside their abuse and murder of Palestinians their invasion of Lebanon the bombing of beruit etc. lets look at how they treat the US, the country that provides them military, economic and even charitable aid

Of course we know the history.

They ruthlessly murdered 17 of our servicemen on the USS Liberty.
They sold some of our most vital secrets to our mortal enemy the soviets all to free a few elderly Jews

But now after all that they continue to spy on us to a degree never seen by any of our allies.

If I were religius I would call on god to strike them down. The least we can do is turn our back on this renegade state.

The only state worthy of our comraderie in the entire region, that is.

Are they spying on us as much as we are yet? Interesting question.

My only complaint about their counter-attack against Lebanon was that they didn't drive Hezbollah into the sea as most of the Arab world would them -- but they were ethically constrained by the terrorists' craven and cowardly use of civilians and their residences as shields. A tactic used against us as well in Iraq and Afghanistan. The reason vile people use this tactic against the US, Israel, and NATO states? Because it works.

Your religious beliefs blind you to the truth if you support Israel in their wicked ways and in their covert war against us you are no patriot.

Religious beliefs are beside the point. Israel is the only state in the whole of the Middle East with any notion of some of the values I consider non-negotiable for a civilized and just society -- pluralism, individualism, capitalism. They have had an aggressive and unrelenting terrorist immigrant population programming their own young to kill, neighboring states constantly attacking through proxies, but they still manage to be the most civilized society in the region. Good for them, good for us.

Thread title is off: "again" would imply they've done something recent, but the entirety of your post focuses on past actions.

Israel is no saint by any means--and I have serious problems with how they do things in general--but their enemies are even more despicable.

To focus on their mistakes while completely ignoring the fact that the Palestinians and Hamas/Hezbollah indiscrimantely slaughter innocent civilians--deliberately targeting them btw--and have violated countless truces, international treaties, etc; well, that just tells me you're not a very observant person.

*note, if I were a liberal, your post and argument would be shot down as "anti-Semetic" and that liberals are waging a "War on the Jews"

Certainly some political anti-Semitism against both Jew Semites and non-Jew Semites in any one of these types of threads. Either Israel is bad or "Israel's enemies" are bad by default.

The reality is that conflict has immense shared blame and is sort of off the table as it pertains to the OP. As far as the OP is concerned, not only do all of our allies spy on us, but we them. This is nothing new. It does not preclude alliances when any given actor is interested in self-preservation.

We spend 3.5 billion annually on Israel's defense. What are we getting out of that exactly? What would we lose if we lost Israel as an ally?

Perhaps it would be better to discuss the topic rather trying to make this personal.

Let's let the post stand. Perhaps others might like to take the opportunity to come out.

How much do we spend on NATO every year, i.e. tacitly assuming the burdens of national defense for western Europe and enabling their run away experiments in "social democracy"? I'd submit we get more value these days out of the money spent on Israel's behalf.

Well it's Bill's call I suppose. I've just never been a fan of thread hijacking in favor of personal squabbling.

I'd submit we we are getting very little value out of either. Frankly, I'm tired of being the world's (and Israel's) police force.

We give the same thing to Egypt so what would be lost is a funding source for lots of munitions. Cancel them both

To my knowledge the closest our aid to Egypt has come to our aid to Israel is like 65%.

In 2010, for example, we gave Egypt about 48% what we gave Israel. It was 45% in 2012.

So being a proponent of terminating our alliance with Israel (and therefore our vast financial contributions to their state) and being an anti-Semite are mutually inclusive? What am I missing?

What did the OP say that was discriminatory or hostile towards Israel?

People still think anti-semitism applies exclusively to Jews, which is odd. But even then to conflate semitics with a nation comprised of nearly exclusively semitic people seems even weirder.

Excuse me? Recently they've been spying on us at an unprecedented rate probably to sell secrets to china or to Putin.
