Is winning going to be good enough to get in the top four?

Remembering back under Meyer there was talk of "style points" that affect poll rankings. Will it hurt our rankings if we're not scoring a lot of points even though we're winning games? What I'm asking is would a weaker team with the same record jump UF in the polls and get into the top four simply because they score more points?

What's the importance of the top 4, exactly?

The tournament doesn't start until 2014.

If we win all of our games, we will be in the National Championship game without question. Even if we win them all by 1 point from here on out.

Style points aren't needed in the SEC.

Exactly, the SEC team will get in if they are undefeated and it doesn't matter the scores. You will have a team like Louisville which should go undefeated and be left out no matter how many style points they have because they won't play anybody all year unless all of the teams ahead of them lose.

Yes I understand it isn't until next season, but since not scoring a lot of points is a trend I was wondering if it will make a difference.

Win the SEC, get into the Championship game. Pretty easy to understand.

Teams like Louisville and Ohio State need style points this year because of their schedules.

Winning all of our games will be enough.

If we win all of our games, the only teams in a position to keep us out will be Oregon/Stanford, OSU, and Louisville. The computers will have us far ahead of any of these teams based on strength of schedule (we will have beaten 5 ranked teams, all of whom will have been ranked in the top 15). And the humans will also be influenced by our strength of schedule and us having just beaten the best team from the SEC west (likely Alabama who will have spent most of the season sitting at #1).

Not necessarily. I think you would have to win the SEC undefeated this year. Next year is when I get concerned.

As long as the SEC is top dog they need to be knocked off before they are moved out of the C game. JMHO

    Yep.

I mean a 2-loss SEC champ made the game. That says it all.

I guess my inclination is to be less concerned, as there will be four spots instead of just two.

Both play lousy schedules this year and are likely to go undefeated and be very highly ranked. Would a one loss SEC champ get a spot in the BCSNCG over one or both? They absolutely should! The road to get there is so much tougher for an SEC team.

I think for more than one SEC team to make the playoffs, one of them is going to need to blow teams out. Just beating your opponent isn't going to be enough when teams like Oregon, Louisville and OSU are naming scores all season.
