I don't feel like the offense itself is boring, I think that the coaches are doing what's in the best interest of winning, considering our personnel. And yes it can be boring to watch, and a little frustrating at times and I miss hanging 40-50 points on teams but I've come to appreciate how dynamite the defense is.

I think big plays are more important in terms of excitement than total yards. If we had some 50 yard plays or whatever, I doubt there would be that many people complaining.

It looks like there's two types of Gator fans on this board:

    1. actual fans of the game of football. This type of fan doesn't require 350 yards per game of passing, nor does he require 40+ points per game to get excited about games. Smothering defense and a physical offensive attack works just as well -- sometimes even better.

    2. fans of the Gators and the Gators only. Doesn't really care too much for the college football landscape and has trouble naming more than one player on prominent teams, if they're even able to do that. Yells and screams at the TV for obvious holds and offsides, etc that are called against the Gators. Pleads and begs for "airing it out" and states that the coaches are all stupid.

Sure you don't care but a lot of people like me do... Especially over crap teams like Toledo.

I also think it's disingenuous for anyone to use a team like Oregon's results in a bowl game as if that's proof that we should have a poor offense. No one is saying to throw or run the ball more. We want more efficiency and scoring.

I'd take Oregon, Bama, TAM, Clemson, hell, just about any top 20 teams offense over ours. Our defense is lights out. Match that up with an offense with a pulse and we're in business. Even LSU's offense looks to be much improved. Texas put up 750+ yards of offense today.

Which has more to do with Mack Brown playing instead of Jones. You need explosive players to have explosive plays.

Back to beating SEC teams. Ask Kentucky fans where he coaches.

not so sure about the talent Western beat them last year as well. I said in the off season it would not shock me if that team beat UK and the Vols Taggert left talent on that team

That's great that you care. You're obviously a #2 fan (see my post above).

In case you haven't gotten the hint, Muschamp is not the kind of coach that does things just to appease other people (in this case, feminine Gator fans who get bored if the team isn't scoring on 56 yard play action double moves every drive). All he cares about is winning and managing this team the best way he knows how. Miami is next week -- would you rather lose 35-31 or win 20-3? You're a loser if you even think about the 35-31 result.

    Toledo is Austin Peay.

Do you think they have some elite type of defense? The majority of the teams they played last year scored more points on them then we did today... :whoa:

Anyways, the real reason why more people are not going out to the games is because of the home theater setup. And BHG has the worst concessions/amenities of any major venue I've ever been to, except for maybe the Citrus Bowl, where it's about equal. The stadium itself is awesome, but the concessions are on a low-budget level.

Unless it's a big game, there's no point to traveling all the way to Gainesville (figure for most people, this is at least $30 in gas), eating crappy stadium food, sitting in the sun for 3+ hours. And paying good money to be able to do this. Wasn't a factor today because the good games in the national landscape were on later, but many times you have to sacrifice watching any other college football just to see the Gators pulverize a sacrificial lamb. In these cases, having a get-together at the house and watching the games on a big TV with surround sound and all the creature comforts of home is a much better deal.

Toledo is a decent mid level team. They have beaten or come close to beating some good programs over the recent years. The coaching staff did what they had to do. IMO, our limitations on offense may rest at the QB position. We will see next week.

Not much more. Fortunately, winning and losing a game of football won't change my life. So I stay grounded. I have very little confidence in our offense and don't think we'll win the East as a result. I hope I'm wrong but I'm pretty good at predicting football.
