I'm with CJ on this.
Yeah, this is all true, but some of us will be dead before then, so we need it settled now, and for all time.
OK ..... then yes, Obama's the worst.
Not by a long shot. While he is by far the most Leftist president we ever had (only VP Henry Wallace was worse), he hasn't done anywhere near the damage FDR did while in the White House. Obama is not responsible through neglect of the deaths of millions.
He will doubtless be considered by history to be inconsequential, as Clinton will be, as none of his gradiose plans will stick....
Don't bet the ranch on that. I can promise you no politician with a D by his/her name in a red state will want the goof campaigning in their district/state.
Can't decide any POTUS until we get 20 years from the end of their last term, IMO.
Truman had a dismal rating when he left office, but history shows that he was one of the better ones.

And that would make him a persona non grata how exactly? He's a liability in places the Democrats don't have to win in order to take national majorities in both houses and win the presidency? The horrors...
This largely gets back to the point that there are increasingly few "solid red" parts of the map. Its something the Republicans desperately need to work on, not something that should scare Democrats.
No doubt the worst...James Buchanan. Talk about fiddling why Rome burned.
To name anyone else is partisan nonsense.

You must be forgetting. Pubs control both statehouses and legislatures nationally. There are way more red states than blue. And states like Florida, Virginia and Ohio whose residents were "tricked" to vote for numbnuts but elect Pubs governor. Me thinks the pubs have their eyes on the Senate by picking off demo senate seats in red states. The great prognosticator hailed by the left (Nate Silver) seems to think they should do exactly that.
40 years later...Jimmy Carter was the most humanitarian POTUS...and the worst until Obama got rolling.
(Hey, just for laughs...anyone remember Carters' Department of Energy?).
When we unravel the $16 trillion of debt, prolonged effects of over-regulation & the ACA, Obama will be
the undisputed, clear winner of The Worst POTUS EVER!!
James Buchanan will always be the worst President of all time as long as the Civil War remains our most devastating internal war. Any President presiding over the splitting of the country into two gets the crappy President award. Nixon was the King of scumbags before becoming President and left the office in absolute disgrace. He gets second. From a leadership perspective Carter certainly gets a crappy President award. Too soon to know how Obama's policies play out. Bush Jr. gets the recent dumbass award for reducing taxes to the lowest in 50 years while taking on a worldwide trillion dollar war. He also doesn't get a pass on the biggest banking disaster since the depression as it happened on his watch.
Obama really has to screw up to get on the top of that list.
Interesting that you mention FDR in the same sentence that you say Obama is the most leftist by far. Like Obama, FDR pushed for national health care, but he also tried to institute a maximum wage. That's right, he tried to limit individual annual income to 25K per year. After that, he settled for a 90% to marginal tax rate. He also wanted a bill of rights that guaranteed every family a home. And then there was that new deal thing with social security and all that. Including Wilson, I just don't see this Obama is by far the most leftist president mantra.
I'd don't anyone can predict any current president's historical reputation.
there are 3-4 worse than obama, including carter and harding, but he's one of the worst.
Hey, maybe Obama will have a great last 3 years.
Damn, Im funny.
FDR...worst POTUS ever.
Kennedy...best POTUS ever.
LBJ...worst POTUS ever.
Nixon...worst POTUS ever.
Carter....worst POTUS ever.
Reagan...best POTUS ever.
Clinton...best POTUS ever.
GWB...worst POTUS ever.
Obama...worst POTUS ever.
Wow, in the last few generations we sure do have quite a few POTUSs commonly referred to as the best/worst of all time. What a crazy coincidence! Have to love partisan hyperbole.
Why is it that nowadays everyone has to talk in hyperboles and absolutes?
Guess its easier than actually doing a full reasoned analysis - gray is seemingly no longer a valid color, everything is black and white, absolutely good or absolutely evil, conservative or liberal, absolute fact or absolute fiction etc...to me it all just comes across as intellectual laziness.
Great post. "Absolutely" right. :joecool:
...then again, there are times when the subject makes it easy to speak in absolutes, such as the topic at hand.
