Hey guys, I posted here a little over 6 months ago regarding a knee injury to my left knee. It killed me while running and everywhere I read pretty much sounded like runner's knee, which needed rest and ice, etc.

Well I am here now and haven't ran since then until last week and the knee still hurts, the exact same, after not hurting at all while not running for 6 months. Today I decided to try riding a bike and jumping rope, no pain, but within 1 minute of running, it started hurting.. I even jumped rope on my left leg alone and it didnt hurt.. What gives?

...glucosamine, chondroitin, MSN combo-heavy dose 3000 mg-takes two-three weeks to kick in. And get an xray or an mri. Might need to get it cleaned out, could be arthritic, some crap floating around, meniscus, tendinitis, not knowing your age, and not being a doctor makes it hard. Stop running :)

Not to make light of your situation at all, but unless you dearly love to run, 'stop running' MIGHT be considered a live option. I say this because I suspect that a great many run, and endure pain, because they mistakenly believe that running is a superior or a 'must do' exercise strategy.

I loved doing cleans in Hs. Then a broke my wrist going in to tackle some 8* recruit from saint Thomas, an broke my wrist. Played through it.

Now I can't bend it backwards.

Pushups I do only on fists or fingertips.

Sometimes you know your body can't handle it and stop.

    Believe me, I do sympathize.

I myself have knee issues which, at times, force me to dial back activities I enjoy. And the maddening thing is that my problem, Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome, falls under the rubric of knee pain that you can never quite get a handle on. It's causes are mysterious.

While I have sympathy for you. Perhaps you should check around for a good OS and have your knee scoped and find out what is exactly wrong. And have it corrected. And should you continue to run with whatever the prognosis indicates.

    Good luck.

I agree with getting it looked at to see what all is going on in there. You have given it sufficient time to fix itself and it hasn't. IF running is something that you want to do, get it checked.

IF it were me.... I hate running so that would be a great excuse to NOT do it :)

    Doctors are expensive... Lol

I just don't get how I can jump rope, ONLY on my left leg, with no pain in knee, but as soon as I run, it hurts..

It has to do with the friction between the knees.

Remember that bed of nails people can lie on and be fine?

Now imagine sliding across that thing

I would say the pain is the "outside front of my knee, below my knee cap..

If you have such a functionally specific pain you need to see a Dr. It may be running isn't good for you specifically but it sounds like a structural issue that may be resolved with non invasive therapy or minor surgery.

I had forward shoulder and a buildup of scar tissue from prior injury but didn't know it. I thought I tore my rotator or labrum again but my pt broke up the tissue with a painful series of massages and strengthened my rhomboids with a regiment and I have no pain now

You don't know until you find out

See a doctor. I have been having shoulder pain, but only when I work out, lifting over my head. Saw an orthopedist, had x-rays which showed a cyst, but he also thought I might have a torn rotator cuff. MRI did not reveal a tear. I then had a bone scan and now I have an appointment with orthopaedic oncologyst at UF Monday morning. They think it is benign, but want to make sure. You never know what may be causing the pain, and people on a message board can only guess.

If you cant afford a doctor, quit buying running shoes and get health insurance instead. It's much more important.

I'm changing my mind on health insurance. Essentially, your health insurance works to ensure that your doctor gets paid, even if you can't afford the next meal.

Other options available: see if you can fix yourself. Often you can.

You should probably get an MRI. it does not sound like something an X-RAY will pick up. You may very well need some cleaning up in there. I injured my knee and just dealt with the pain and later tore my ACL completely. I ended up having 2 reconstructions and my maniscus (sp-?) removed. You do not want that. No one will really be able to help you here. Go see a doctor because it is evident this is not going away. Malscott had some good advise if you just are not going to see a doctor. But it will probably just get worse.

My doctor told me that if your born with four legs your meant to run. If your born with 2 you walk.
