I'm starting to become optimistic. I can't help it.

You must believe what that Seminole freshman said then. Cook said that Lowly Duke had better players than we did. I think we'll see the difference in talent between us and Duke on offense... but it might take two years to get fully up to speed.

IOW, we shouldn't compare Duke's players to ours. Ours are far better, IMHO.

I see losses to Bama, LSU, Missouri, UGA and FSU. Will a 7-5 record be enough to save WM's job?

I look at Roper as a Spurrier type OC, he will take the chances, the running backs have bulked up,who is #22,hopefully Muschamp will not be involved ,Go Gators

I'm assuming he'll be no more involved then he's ever been. Philosophy is different then play calling.

I'm curious and since I'm old and decrepit and not an internet type of guy to look things up, I'm wondering how many of our opponents next year are replacing QBs, major losses on O and D line or secondaries. I hear a lot of talk about team names, ie bama USC, UGA etc, but are they all bringing back a majority of their teams or will they be bringing a lot of new faces to the table. I would think going against a team breaking in a new qb or Oline for example would give us a much greater chance for success vs a team of vets across the board.

IMO it should not be. The Gators should be in a position to challenge for the SEC eastern division. If they are not in that position, it's time for a change.

Lot of QB transitions next year: Bama, LSU, and UGA, could help UF in early games v Bama and LSU.

What does "be in a position to challenge for the SEC East" mean? I assume 2 or 3 SEC losses and a chance going into the UGA and USC games to win the Division should do it.

I think 2 SEC losses wins the East, 3 it will come down to a tiebreaker…

of course I haven't looked at the comparative SEC schedules of UGA, USCe and UF, do we get screwed again on the schedule? I know the Bama road game was a late schedule change that did us no favors.

I think it all evens out since our players have to learn a brand new system.

I disagree. I think we can win 10, but my brain says 9.

We're not going to lose all five of those if Roper is legit.

Saying this now, without getting to see what everyone has, is about like saying we will win 10-11 games next year....there's just not enough information to make either of those assumptions.

You think 2-3 losses wins the East? I doubt it. East champion SEC records the last 5 years:

    2013 Missouri 7-1
    2012 UGA 7-1
    2011 UGA 7-1
    2010 USC 5-3
    2009 FLA 8-0

    Average: 7-1

Uga gets its usual cakewalk. Auburn and Arkansas. Obviously, Auburn will be sold. Arky won't. But nothing compared to getting Bama and LSU.

    USC gets Tamu and Auburn.

True but the one main difference is Those teams with 2 or less losses had a experienced field QB behind center as we should this year. Whereas those teams you stated in UGA, USC, MIZZOU are all breaking in new QBs and even if they don't each lose to us , they will cannibalize each other with in the division as they did last season, vandy over UGA, tenn over USC, USC over mizzou, us over tenn, UGA over USC, UGA over LSU, etc.

So while on avg. 2-3 wins wouldn't cut it, this year I feel the east champ has a min. Of 2 losses.

I'm still hurting from last season. Cautiously optimistic.
