Freshmen.........that's who we beat.
A three games in a row season loss, at the hands of one team, is an ass-beating... matter no how you frame it.
I would not mind if Kentucky did reasonably well, maybe to the Elite8. If we get to final four or better it just looks good for the conference.
, we are giving kY way too much credit for today. We are up 15 and then a bad call on the Hill layup.. Then it was a flurry on phantom foul calls on our kids that got KY back in the game. They got some confidence and then hit a few shots. They are physically gifted, but not great basketball players. KY will have a very hard time with KSU
On TV I saw some UK fan wearing a shirt that said: "I still hate Laettner".
I'll give them credit. When they all walked past Calamari (misspelling intended ) during a timeout and ignored him and he turned away in disgust, I thought it was going to be a blow out. I don't like what it does to my nerves, but there can't be a more battle-hardened team in the Tourney than the Gators.
Yes I'm sure it was a slap at me. Just walking into the house from Atlanta..big win for you guys. I was very proud of my guys. When the clock hit zero I clapped my Cats off the floor and turned around to all the Gator fans I hung out with during the week...shook their hands and told them great game and win it all!
This year's Cats played well enough yesterday to convince themselves that they're ready for the NBA.
So, that means that Kentucky will have to start all over again next October.
I know this is an "equal opportunity" thread so I will add my own spin. What I have said that I don't like about Kentucky basketball right now is that there is a quick dismissal by them - and encouraged their HC - that winning the SEC doesn't really matter. It's FF or a failure. And the play yesterday may be that "well, now we are ready for the real season" attitude, even though the game was more about our FT shooting and tired legs coming down the stretch.
So after this season, I will give them credit IF...the news is that the entire team comes back to finish some unfinished business. Randle can be excused because he is a lottery pick but if there is a mass exodus because that is why they came then...that isn't good for anyone. JMHO
Yeah, I really don't understand why he isn't starting over Johnson. In the games I've seen them play, he seems to always be playing better than Johnson.
I saw that too. I laughed.
So Cal can complain about starting 5 freshmen.
No, Jeff, not at all. I was poking fun at a rival right after a heated game. I have a lot of respect for you and would not slap at you. Hey, it's the first time we've ever beaten you guys three times in a year.
Anyway, I do think they are playing better (still nowhere near potential) and would NOT want to face them again. Here's to hoping you guys make some noise in the big tourney. We need to represent the SEC!
Yep. We beat them 3 times this year. I have no ill will to see them get knocked out early, and will actually like to see them go pretty far. I know I'll probably be in the minority here, but if we didn't make the title game, I would actually not have a problem with them winning it, as it would really rub the rest of the nation pretty bad to see a "weak" SEC team win it.
Doesn't UK play, in all probability, the play-in team, Tennessee? They may not get past them.
Oops got it wrong, they are down the line some.
They play K-State. If they beat them, they'll play Wichita State. UK may have ultimately been given a de facto #1 seed.
UMass gets the winner of Tennessee vs. Iowa, then that winner likely gets Duke.
I hope you're in the minority with being ok with them winning it all.
I'm sure I am. I just don't feel any ill will towards them outside of SEC play. Iti's not like UGA or F$U, etc.
With that said, I honestly don't think it will happen anyways.
Cal kills it for me.
I can absolutely understand that.
If they stay, then they grew up.
If they leave, they didn't learn a thing at all.
I'm betting the latter.
