    Illinois vs. Oklahoma
These two e-mails, the first about Illinois and the second about Oklahoma , made an interesting contrast . . .
    A
wonderful state with zero Republicans - The Great State of Illinois.
    Part 1--- Illinois
Some interesting data on the State of Illinois ... There are more people on welfare in Illinois than there are people working. Chicago pays the highest wages to teachers than anywhere else in the U.S. averaging $110,000/year. Their pensions average 80-90% of their income. Wow, are Illinois and Chicago great or what? Be sure to read till the end. I've never heard it explained better. Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago ? Body count: In the last six months, 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago . 221 killed in Iraq ; AND Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the entire US.
Here's the Chicago chain of command: President: Barack Obama · Senator: Dick Durbin · House Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr. · Governor: Pat Quinn · House leader: Mike Madigan · Atty. Gen.: Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike) · Mayor: Rohm Emanuel · The leadership in Illinois - all Democrats. · Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago . · Of course, they're all blaming each other. · Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any! · Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country. Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country. Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois . And he is going to 'fix' Washington politics for us?
George Ryan is no longer Governor, he is in prison.
He was replaced by Rob Blagoyavic who is, that's right, also in prison.
And Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned a couple of weeks ago, because he is fighting to not be sent to... that's right, prison.
The Land of Lincoln , where our governors make our license plates. What?
As long as they keep providing entitlements to the population of Chicago , nothing is going to change, except the state will go broke before the country does.
"Anybody who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him better take a closer look at the American Indian."
    Don’t forget Detroit , another good example…
    PART 2--- Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA - may soon have plenty of new residents!
THIS IS REALLY INTERESTING, AND TRUE ... PLEASE READ IT!
Oklahoma is the only state that Obama did not win even one county in the last election... While everyone is focusing on Arizona ’s new law, look what Oklahoma has been doing!!!
    An update from Oklahoma :
Oklahoma law passed, 37 to 9 an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol. The feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake. Hey this is a conservative state, based on Christian values... HB 1330
Guess what... Oklahoma did it anyway.
Oklahoma recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen. They all scattered. HB 1804. This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said it would be a mistake.
Guess what... Oklahoma did it anyway.
Recently we passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegal's to the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes. Madam Pelosi said it was unconstitutional SB 1102
Guess what... Oklahoma did it anyway.
Several weeks ago, we passed a law, declaring Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives. Joining Texas , Montana and Utah as the only states to do so.
More states are likely to follow: Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Carolina's, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi and Florida. Save your confederate money, it appears the South is about to rise up once again. HJR 1003
The federal Government has made bold steps to take away our guns. Oklahoma, a week ago, passed a law confirming people in this state have the right to bear arms and transport them in their vehicles. I'm sure that was a setback for the criminals. The Liberals didn't like it -- But....
Guess what... Oklahoma did it anyway.
Just this month, the state has voted and passed a law that ALL drivers’ license exams will be printed in English, and only English, and no other language. They have been called racist for doing this, but the fact is that ALL of the road signs are in English only. If you want to drive in Oklahoma , you must read and write English. Really simple.
By the way, the Liberals don't like any of this either
Guess what... who cares... Oklahoma is doing it anyway.

Obviously Chicago figures are from a year ago because JJ Jr. is now in Jail.

No link. from email. Snopes did not comment.

Jailed Democrat’s “Mood disorder” Connected to His Criminal Behavior, Wins Him Prison Bonus

Convicted Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL) is scheduled to receive $8,700 per month in government disability pay, as well as a partial federal pension of $45,000. That generous $8,700 in disability comes thanks to Jackson ’s sudden development of a “mood disorder” as the federal government began looking to indict him. Jackson, who was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison, had no history of mental illness during his prior 17 years in Congress.

Five of the last 10 governors of Illinois have been Republican.

Most of it is true regarding OK, some wording might be off "resolution vs law" but for the most part it is true.

Living in OK when they passed the laws on illegal aliens the pool of new hires really dried up. My company uses E-verify on all new hires, btw. I also know we have to show a voter ID card when we vote. Oklahoma is always one of the first states to report voting totals on election days. I've read that every voting machine in the state is the same and they post the totals within 15 minutes of the polls closing.

When I moved to Oklahoma in 1981 of the two US Senators and 6 House Representatives there was one Republican, Don Nickles (elected in 1980 in the Reagan landslide). The Governor was a Democrat, and both state houses were Democratic controlled so much the Republicans couldn't stop super majority votes. Today all Senators and Representatives are Republican, the Governor and all but one elected state officials are Republican. Both houses of the State legislature are controlled by Republicans, yet the voting registration is 45% D, 42% R and 13 % Ind.

They have been slowly reducing the state income tax rate, last year they cut the top rate .25%, with the goal to eliminate it totally at some point.

Well the first claim has been rated "pants on fire" and was disputed by even the Heritage Foundation (which has made a cottage industry of declaring welfare in the broadest way possible). Even using their broad definition of welfare, which includes EITC which only goes to people in the workforce. If you only include the actual program known as "welfare" (TANF), that number decreases to about 1%, with the highest state being 2.1% of the overall population.

    http://www.politifact.com/texas/sta...email-says-11-states-have-more-people-welfar/

Teachers make on average between $67,974 (median) and $74,236(mean). So another claim that is false.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2012/09/11/how-much-do-chicago-teachers-make/

The maximum amount for a teacher pension is 75%, so the average can't be 80-90%.

    http://articles.chicagotribune.com/...-20120427_1_teacher-pension-pension-costs-trs

The crime stats are at best outdated.

    http://news.yahoo.com/2013-ends-big-drop-homicides-chicago-212612071.html

Not sure about the "murder rate" in Iraq, but if the point was to compare it to the violence in Iraq, Iraq experienced 1144 deaths due to the war in the last year of statistics.

    http://www.tradingeconomics.com/iraq/battle-related-deaths-number-of-people-wb-data.html

I am surprised you didn't realize they only listed one Senator. Does Illinois only have one Senator? Is the other Senator a Republican?

The email also fails to mention that George Ryan is a Republican Ex-Governor in prison.

BTW, on an interesting side note, the shot about Indians is really funny right before extolling how awesome Oklahoma is. What state has the highest percentage of Native Americans? Oh, that's right: Oklahoma. Irony.

    And yet....

Despite my Right-wing leanings, if given a choice between living in OKC or Chicago, I would pick Chicago in a landslide.

No offense to you OklahomaGator, but I lived in Oklahoma for 3.5 years and that was enough.

Detroit, New Orleans, St. Louis, Baltimore, Newark, Oakland, Stockton, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Memphis, and Atlanta are all more dangerous than Chicago. Some of them considerably.

And that is just murder. If you want to look at other violent crimes, such as aggravated assault, you would need to add cities such as Toledo, Anchorage, Wichita, Houston, Albuquerque, Buffalo, Corpus Christi...and Oklahoma City and Tulsa to name a few.

No offense taken at all. Rural America is not for everyone. However, I think if you went and visited downtown OKC you would come away impressed. They have really developed the downtown area the last 10 years or so and the Thunder are almost always sold out. They built a San-Antonio style riverwalk along with a ball park for the minor league affiliate. There is talk of going after a MLB team in the future as well.

Oklahoma City has the Flaming Lips, so there's that going for it, at the very least.

So pack heat too. Or just don't go.

If all those cities boast more than 600 murders a year, no wonder I have no desire to go to any of them save New Orleans.

Question is who runs all those cities you listed?

True. I returned there a couple years ago and OKC has really come a long way from when I lived in Oklahoma 20 years earlier. And the people of Oklahoma are wonderful -- it's definitely the friendliest state I've ever visited.

Still... Despite their politics, Chicago is a really cool town. I guess it just come down to the fact that I'm a "Town Mouse" and always will be. It's just a shame that virtually every large city in the U.S. is dominated by leftist politics.

The same party that runs almost every city in this country including 10 of the 12 lowest crime cities (and all of the big cities that are lowest in crime).

I don't know where you are pulling 600 murders from. The most Chicago ever had in (recent) raw numbers was 500, it is down to around 400. But those cities have higher murder rates, which is, of course, what really matters. If I have a town with 100 people and 10 are murdered, the residents of that town are in much more danger than a town with 1,000,000 people in which 100 people are murdered.

    Rounded..(292/6 months= about 600/year).

    Absolutely murder rate matters more.

So the same party runs the high crime cities and the low crime cities?..

Which party runs the most bankrupt cities?

Again, the same one that runs the most large cities.

    Republican: Boise County, ID
    Mammoth Lakes, CA

    Democratic: Stockton, CA
    Harrisburg, PA
    Detroit, MI
    Central Falls, RI

    Swing: San Bernardino, CA
    Jefferson County, AL

Sometimes I wonder about the stimulation some people require. OK is a wonderful state. OKC is going, glowing and growing. Everybody has a job. Cheapest state in the Union too.

Perhaps we should create some national "communes" for liberal, lefty commies? Allow them to plant organic, kitchen gardens, give all kids trophies for breathing, ban guns, allow abortion, drive only bicycles, Priuses and wheat germ powered Suburus. How about we give them some of the cities mentioned, for free?

Wonder what those places would look like in 10 years?
