I am sure he somehow forgot to to play smart as opposed to being immensely tired from initiating our entire offense and defending the ball all first half (one of the reasons we had to go into the 1-3-1 in the first place). Plus, I highly doubt Donovan pulls his starting point guard in the final four minutes.

This could certainly be part of it. Still, maintaining his focus is something that I'm sure Billy is talking to him about.

Prather also missed a free throw and DFS missed one, too. You guys just atomize the faults of these players in such an odd way.

Scottie made 3-4 drives to the basket that ended with off-balance shots that had no chance of going in. FSU's height may have caused him problems. Hopefully, with a few more games under his belt, he'll improve on those drives.

I understand your point, but I've seen this happen with him before. Perhaps it stands out because he is usually much better than that. His assist to turnover ratio has always been excellent.

His free throw shooting must improve. He's going to have the ball a lot to close out games, so its going to have to improve into the high 70's. There is no Boynton or Rosario to rely on this year.

I like Frazier in those situations. But Wilbekin also came back and hit a pair later.

The only beef I have with Scotty is that this was only his second game this year because he couldn't keep his head on straight over the summer. He played a lot if minutes and he played very well,

Prather has improved immensely at the line. I agree with you about DFS. That was a bad miss.

Sorry to be critical, but he is a better player than that and he is a senior. I'm sure Scottie and Coach aren't making excuses for it.

However, almost all of those would have been called fouls on f$u if the game were called like our previous games. I'm still baffled at how this game reverted back to last year's rules interpretation.

To his credit, he did and they were all net. He could be an 80% shooter from the line. I hope he gets there.

It was a terrible game from an officiating standpoint. When Billy gets T'd up, you know something is wrong.

Making excuses for what? Wilbekin played 38 minutes, initiated all of our sets, was lights out defensively, and created nearly all of our shots. He struggled at the line in one trip and he struggled to finish in the paint (along with our entire team, for that matter). And it was his second game of the season. I suspect Scottie and Donovan maybe are a little more realistic about what to expect.

I love Scottie. . . But I will say this. If/when erv had the same type of game. . . He was crucified on here, especially by a particular poster. I think the truth is, our pg spot does carry a fair amount of scoring responsibility. It always has... Roberson, Green, Walker, Boynton, Scottie. And that can be a tremendous weight. Scottie had a rough shooting game tonight. But thats all it was. I think he is a fantastic pg, and though I want hill back.... I think it is silly to be clamoring bc of this game.

I thought it was a little bit of an up and down game for Scottie. He played great at times, but there were also some mistakes - mostly from trying to do too much. For example all the shots he threw up when driving to the basket. His play down the stretch was not strong on either end of the court. I think he just needs to shake off the rust a bit and get back to 100% conditioning.

There's no doubt that it's great having him back, and he's going to be huge for us all year.

When you play 38 minutes it shouldn't be surprising if you are a bit fatigued at the end of the game. That was a far from ideal spot Billy had to put him in. With both Hill and Walker not playing it put Scottie in a tough situation.

Erv never had a game like that because he couldn't guard anyone.

I hate how people don't believe that defense is half of the game. Without Wilby last night, we lose by double digits. He has too much responsibility right now and needs a breather every now and then. Plus, he's not in shape for a game like that yet because of the time he missed, although that's entirely his fault.

And Donovan reiterated that point several times after the game.
