I believe Jeremy needs to give a token 1 year extension to WM to silence the "hot seat" rumors.

A desperate/lame duck coach is bad for a number of reasons.

    1. He needs to be on solid ground to make changes on offense. If Will wants to make a move at OC, he needs to have a solid rock to stand on to recruit a top notch OC. This will be hard if the candidate views this as a one and done deal.

    2. Burning Grier's redshirt could be a bad thing if done out of desperation. If hes not ready, but Will senses a hail mary is needed to save his job for instance. Conversely, he might give Will a shot as a freshman, if he knows his job is more secure.

    3. Recruiting. Self explanatory.

In the event that a change MUST be made, we can afford the buyouts involved.

Will needs every conceivable opportunity to right this ship.

Lame ducks never seem to learn to gly straight again.

    Huh?

    Muschamp's contract goes through 2016.

He's on the proverbial hot seat. There are many reasons why. Maybe he'll get it figured out. Depending on how this year unfolds, he may or may not get next year.

4-11 vs ranked teams is unacceptable here. Just saying...

I know, I said Token...Maybe a raise based on incentives....

I just fear that with FSU and Miami improving, we have to be proactive

Everyone know if we end up poorly he is on a last leg in 2014.

The hot seat rumors need to be silenced. Noise in the system is never a good thing....even if it turns out to be justified.

JF either needs to show a substantial action of confidence, which I am in favor of, or cut bait if the season tanks, (which I dont desire.)

Lame duck coaches dont recover....it's almost never the case.

I'm still a believer, and I'm willing to give somewhat of a pass for this season due to the injuries (especially at Missouri). But -- and I'm sorry to say -- he can't be the guy who loses three in a row to the Bulldogs. They are in just as bad shape as the Gators, Vandy managed to win, and even Zook beat Richt two out of three times. The excuses run out on Saturday.

I think we have a very good recruiting class coming in and he needs some more time. How long did it take Jimbo at FSU to get up there?

More time is deserved if you are showing improvement. The Miami loss showed me that he hadn't learned much from last year. That 11-2 season was the worst thing that could have happened to Muschamp. Why? Because it gave him the false hope that he could try to win like that every year.

Charlie Weis had a 10 year contract. That didn't work out too well.

JF might just extend WM's contract to stop asinine threads like this from starting on Gator message boards.

This is year 4 for Jimbo. His teams have only got better over time, not really the case for our Gators. I am in the crowd to not call for WM head just yet. I have been a very big WM supporter since his hire but it just hasn't looked great looking back over some of the performances.

Anyways, I think he does still deserve a chance to right the ship, and I'm really hoping he does. I love the man's energy, and while some don't like seeing him jump on the refs, I LOVE that part of him. Someone needs to stand up for our guys on the field.

It hasn't hurt Jimbo Fisher and his recruiting the last several years. He's only signed through 2016 and AD did not extend his contract after they won the Orange Bowl last season and finishing 12-2. Many Nole fans wanted Jimbo out for choking against teams they were heavily favored to beat in past years, and there was noise in the system but somehow now those same fans want to keep him long term. Amazing!

On the other hand, Muschamp got a big raise last year and a contract extension with no championships and losing a BCS bowl game to Louisville finishing 11-2. Somehow now some of those same fans this season want Muschamp out. Amazing!...how it works.

This is the most insane thread I have seen in a long time lol

Extend contract? He is on the hot seat. We don't extend mediocrity. If the year ends badly enough he could even get fired this season. If he doesn't get fired this season, unless he wins the SEC east title next season he is gone next year.

Note that 4 years ago, I would not have posted this OP, but Miami and FSU were not undefeated and ranked in the top 7 of the BCS.

We have to secure the classes. Even a small slip in recruiting/personnel usage can be disastrous here.

Either send an air of security for the current HBC or make a move quickly. Limbo is a huge enemy.

Of course. An extension doesnt prevent a change, it is more of an "investment" into the appearance of stability. You could limit the university liability on the extended year, making the cost to the school light if he is fired before then.
