How do you fix the problem? Is it too early to fire Pease now or demote him?

If Muschamp has any confidence in the Joker, I would turn the OC reigns over to him. If Pease quits, so be it. I would then promote Leak to QB coach immediately.

At a minimum, it would send a signal to fans and recruits that it is no longer business as usual. Everyone will know you are trying to fix the problem. I think Muschamp will gain immediate approval from the fans.

If things turn around the rest of the season, then you keep Joker next year as OC.

If things don't, hire a new OC at the end of the year and get rid of whoever he wants to.

I like Joker as OC and Leak as QB coach, but I don't think there's any chance it happens. At least, not during the season.

I agree with this completely. I think both Pease and Davis need to be axed, pronto. I'm not sure about it resulting in immediate approval, but it would certainly indicate Muschamp is willing & able to diagnose the issue and isn't just content to rest on his laurels while the house falls down around his ears.

Be interesting to see what changes are made. Muschamp eluded to changes during his show today.

Evaluate everything including himself and the staff. Find a way to become competitive again. To hell with the fans.

If he is going to make a change now is the time to do it since we are going into the bye.

I don't think he will demote Pease though, we're stuck with him through the rest of the regular season.

How is this thread different from any of the others calling for heads?

Because it's hypothesizing about what might be done to fix an obvious problem, not directly calling for any one specific person's head.

That may be his only viable solution ...here's how I see it

    1. Muschamp knows 2014 is a make or break...he'a built a defensive juggernaut at a school that loves offense. But if he fires Pease he has to hire a guy that can take the existing talent and make it work in 2014. The old " new OC need a few seasons" card has been played already

    2. Either way...if Muschamp keeps Pease or fires him he's leaving his own future in someone else's hands. Based on his comments this presser I think that realization has hit home

So Joker may be his best percentage play...he's more likely to produce a more consistent offense then BP next season and he understands the talent he has and recruited the talent coming in

Just leaving Pease in play I think WM puts his future in jeopardy but I don't think he has enough good Will to fire and start over

Fire Pease and make Taylor starter at RB. Also I'd change the offensive philosophy to become more aggressive and vertical while still being based on a powerful run game.

Also I would recruit my tail off because a poor recruiting class this year could mean the end of my tenure. Does anyone really think JF won't consider a new HC if Muschamp's recruiting class fizzles?

No way. He apparently didn't even consider benching our struggling starting qb. He is reluctant to make the smallest of changes like giving Kelvin Taylor the lions share of carries even when there is positive indication that he can succeed.

You think he's going to pull the trigger on a move this big? Not sure he has it in him.

I am not sure that Pease and/or Davis are necessarily bad coaches. But sometimes things just aren't clicking and a change is needed. It has also been said that Davis doesn't care much for recruiting, although I'm not sure how much truth there is to that. If it is true, then we absolutely need somebody that is going to go reel in some talented OL prospects. Being a technician is not enough these days, even as a position coach. Lawing has been in the biz for decades and it seems like he is still hustling on the recruiting trail.

I don't like being part of a lynch mob, but to me the OL performance yesterday was inexplicably bad and worthy of a staff shakeup.

Hiring Leak is probably the last thing I would do right now. He is a first year GA

I like joker. He seems to be the best of our position coaches.

At the same time, if seats are empty and Bull Gators stop writing the checks, there will not be enough money to pay his salary.

Sure. The thing is, we won't really ever know whether or not this was the case. If so, he wouldn't admit to it. Thankfully, I think Muschamp has enough backbone not to do something like this in the first place.

If the offensive coaching staff is not at fault, then keep them and move on to identify the real issue.

How about for the sake of having a team better coached and prepared? How about for the sake of putting up more than 150 yds of offense? How about for the sake of earning the millions of dollars he is being paid?
