Brian Johnson of AC/DC raced two cars. The crew is putting the Weber carbs back together on this one after a small fire, due to someone forgetting a gasket last time they took it apart.

Lyn St. James and Memo Gidley shared this car w/ a cpl other drivers. They were both looking good, and very nice to chat with for a minute at a driver autograph session.

The folks from Goodwood came over for the Classic24 and they were blown away. They shared a few photo galleries.

'Europeans have on numerous occasions mocked NASCAR out of some deluded perception of its ease. Being here and seeing the scale of it, the commitment that these guys at the HSR Classic 24 consistently demonstrate, it lends perspective and the reality that “just turning left” is a gross underestimation really hits home. Not that we were ill-educated enough to think that in the first place but watching Adrian Newey’s March stutter as the lateral load busts a tyre causing the suspension to buckle has a funny way of galvanising our already respectful sentiments. He followed during a Q&A later in the day "I was going around what I think is called turn four on the Daytona oval and in the middle of the banking I heard a huge bang. The car travelled really sideways and then kind of started bouncing. Basically a tire had gone, and unfortunately in going the tire took the right-rear suspension off...". No joke...'

Adrian Newey is the most prolific F1 car designer in the business. His cars have won 10 F1 titles and about 150 races. NOW he knows what the Daytona high banks can do. I'm glad he was not injured. He spun to a stop, and I heard he was taking selfies on the track while the safety trucks were hooking up his car. LOL

$1.9M new in 1994. When I saw it 3 yrs ago, the body & doors were open. I think I literally drooled on my chin.

    http://www.fox8live.com/story/36862753/oldest-ferrari-in-the-world-hits-streets-of-new-orleans

    NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -
The first ever Cento Miglia Road Rally race comes to the streets of the French Quarter this weekend.
The race is based on the historic Mille Miglia Rally in Italy and will feature nearly 50 Ferraris and high-end race cars during the event.
The event will feature the oldest Ferrari in existence, which was only the third ever built in 1947.

edit: Did she say $50 MILLION? I just searched, Glick bought it in '04 for $777k, after he restored it the estimated value 5 years ago was $8M. I bet I missed a good chance to see it run last Dec. at the Ferrari Mondiali.

I was at Daytona when Cale was qualifying and ran the first 200mph lap, only to take off flying and flipping in turn 4 on his 2nd lap.
Thanks for the Carroll Shelby story. He was retired before I grew up but I love his work.

I rode along for some hot laps today in a SICK 2003 Porsche 911 Turbo. Race prepped to the point we passed a GT3RS.

After I stopped using my phone, we were exiting the horseshoe and saw a big bird in the grass starting to run & take off. I figured it was a hawk, but we get closer and its a Bald Eagle flying right across our windshield. That was the only time he lifted off the gas pedal. Whatta ride!
