Auburn has a questionable secondary and that's putting it mildly and that could be the difference. FSU's run game didn't look all that impressive but their pass game is legit.

Not sure who will win this game, but Auburn matches up well. One of the best ways to disrupt a good passing game is to keep them on the bench. If Auburn runs for over 300 yards, it will be harder for FSU to keep its passing game in rhythm.

By the way, I was in Tucson for the 2006 championship game. Folks there, especially the big-10 homers, were convinced OSU would win by at least 30 points. I tried to explain the strength of schedule advantage (and that we were getting like 5 starters back for the game), but they were confident. Do not under estimate the battle-tested advantage.

Not as stupid being proud of your mighty accomplishments while having only played one ranked team to get to the MNC.
Even if they win, they weren't even part or any relevant football this year except one final game.

They played 4 ranked teams, and I think 3 are still ranked in the coaches poll. They were very relevant this year and we weren't. Stop with the sour grapes. Let's hope we can get this thing turned around so we can take back the state.

Clemson, Miami, and I think Duke are all ranked in the Coaches Poll. Could be wrong.

I'd have to make FSU the favorite, but either team can win this game.

There's nothing stupid about calling Auburn, and a number of posters have made very good cases for why Auburn might win, including the superior run game helping to keep reFSU's offense on the sidelines interrupting their flow, and Auburn having experience in crunch time of tight games. Auburn knows how to win those games.

Also, I am not sure that FSU has faced a pass rush like Auburn will give them. We were affecting JW early, but we didn't have the depth to keep it up. Auburn's pass rush could be a factor.

Still, I expect FSU's pass game against Auburn's pass defense to get it's share, too. Should be a very competitive game and a fun game to watch.

Miami and Duke are no longer ranked, Clemson is a fake. They are a product of their easy schedule.

    Team----------------Total Offense------------Total Defense

    2006 Florida......................19th...............................6th
    2013 Auburn......................11th.............................88th

There is NO similarity between the 2006 Gators and 2013 Auburn team. As for schedules, they are irrelevant.

FSU played a tougher schedule than anyone in 1993, but their 1999 schedule was weak. Didn't stop them from going all the way.

Look at Miami during their 2001 MNC year. Weak schedule, yet they were clearly the best team in the nation.

Hope your prediction is correct, but what you see as a mirage is wishful thinking, IMO. Florida state is for real, and if Auburn beats them, it is because they are the best team in the nation, not because FSU is a fraud or a "mirage."

That's exactly where I said they were ranked. (See post #48 above).

Whatever - they weren't ranked at the end of the regular season.
Either way hardly relevant football and that's not sour grapes - that's just fact.

What game on that schedule including the ACC title game made anyone's top 10-25 games of this year?

Helps to go all the way when you end up with VT in the MNC game too. Another year where undefeated didn't get the best two teams in the game, just the ones with the easiest paths.

Unfortunately I've seen just about every minute of FSU football this year due to some friends' rooting interests and I think FSU is going to win by 18+

This national championship reminds me a lot of ours in 2006. Ohio State and Troy Smith were the perfect team and we were the ugly 1-loss SEC team. FSU has not played 4 quarters all season while Auburn's whole season has come in the 4th quarter. I think the Noles get exposed, and I bet most of the ACC teams lose as well. That may temporarily silence the village, but Winston will keep the Nolies barking until he's gone.

Alabama is the best team in the nation. They would be a 3 pt favorite vs FSU vs Auburn being an 8.5 pt dog.
