I'm sure driskel is intelligent in the mental sense, but he doesn't seem to have good field / situation awareness for his second year as a starter---overthrowing an easy TD, throwing into triple coverage across the middle of the field--absolutely no excuse for those 2 mistakes

JD makes plenty of tough plays all over the field. I could be wrong, but I think he's getting himself too keyed up in some of those big situations, and it's impacting his performance.

If they can settle him down and get him to really embrace those moments without stressing himself, his performance should improve significantly.

More red zone reps (like they worked on last week) and increased comfort level might do it. We'll see.

He threw high when the LB dropped in coverage. I see Mathew Stafford making mistakes like this. Every QB in the nation does it. I am not saying it is ok but lets not act like this is something only Jeff is doing. People in the NFL that signed huge deals are doing it as well.

Belotti is a master at the read option, so what he says carries some weight.

They broke down Driskel's touchdown run from the diamond option formation. Belotti said that the Gators "ought to run that play until the cows come home", inferring that Miami would have struggled to stop it.

Well at least Belotti was aware that we already do run the zone read which is saying more than some posters on this board. I could see the argument for using it more in the RZ and wouldn't be surprised to see us go that direction.

HOWEVER, if we start seeing JD run keepers 15+ times a game then I doubt he will make it through the season and Tyler Murphy will have to lead us to the SEC and National Championships this year.

I also assume Belotti would agree that not turning the ball over 5 times might be a key to victory regardless of what plays you run.

Keepers are part of it...and your right you have to account for injury

Hopefully Driskel can run but not take vicious hits...I think he's also more comfortable throwing the ball out of that formation as well

Please tell me you're not comparing Jeff Driskel to Matthew Stafford.

That's for sure. In fact he can dish some punishment out, he's only 240 lbs. Tebow's only significant injury came in the Kentucky game when he was hit standing in the pocket.

Hasn't JD been injured a couple of times running outside the pocket?
