and possibly the Natty....for the life of me I can't figure out why we force Driskel to be Peyton Manning. It's his natural offense, he looks so comfortable and if someone could research the outcomes of the read option plays I'm sure the results are overwhelmingly positive

keep it simple, up tempo. We have the backs ...Valdez Showers. And receivers that can block well

the speed posts to Drob and Fullwood would be our downfield passing just like Tebow liked to throw

I think we'd average 35 a game....' the "bye-week breakdowns" which I think are phenomenal consistently show success out of the read option

I said similar things in 2005. Why did we force Chris Leak to be a spread option QB, rather than doing what he did best? If Fedora was the OC in 2005, I think we would have won the SEC and competed for a MNC that year, as our defense was loaded.

If we don't turn it over so much we can win every game without changing anything else about the offense.

If we quit turning the ball over and committing stupid penalties we win all of our games the last two years.

We do not run a read option offense, we run a set several plays from read option formations. But a predominately spread, read option offense at this point would be fantastic for Driskel due to his lack of skill at reading defenses. Would like to see a Seattle like offense or Redskin, tho neither are predominately spread/option read.

So do you think turnovers are just happenstance? Like a thunderstorm or something? Like a light switch you can just flip on or off if you want to?

You might view turnovers as a single issue, but I do not. We turn the ball over because we don't block well, our QB play is inconsistent (bad decision making, poor pocket awareness, etc), we run the wrong routes, we don't get fresh bodies into the game, we choose to run and throw in heavy traffic and rarely put players in space to make plays, etc. Basically, turnovers are just one symptom of having a bad offense. And that is something you can't just flip on or off.

this thought to totally change your offense in the middle of the season is ridiculous and would be disastrous

Changing anything at this point would be devastating to the season. The last thing you want to do with a QB who struggles with the speed of the game is to make him think even more than he already does.

I think you can simplify some things and take some decision making away from him. I would vote for that, but changing the offense would be a big mistake.

    Turnover's lost------------------Penalties------------Regular Season W/L

    2000: 38th.....................................82d....................................10-2
    2001: 85th...................................107th.....................................9-2
    2002: 71st ....................................61st.....................................8-4
    2003: 57th.....................................84th.....................................8-4
    2004: 46th...................................111th.....................................7-4
    2005: 5th.....................................104th.....................................8-3
    2006: 66th...................................118th...................................12-1
    2007: 7th.....................................113th.....................................9-3
    2008: 4th.....................................105th...................................12-1
    2009: 20th.....................................85th...................................12-1
    2010: 95th...................................106th.....................................7-5
    2011: 86th...................................114th.....................................6-6
    2012: 13th...................................115th...................................11-1

    Avg....46th...................................100th....................................9-3

Seems like we always have more stupid penalties than most teams, and turnovers lost is not always a direct consequence to the quality of a season. Yet i do agree that we need to cut down on both...

People are really overreacting to a few bad plays. Jeff threw a bad interception and didnt see a few open WR's that is about it. This happens in almost every football game you watch.

The other int was on the WR's. He also made some nice plays from the pocket but people dont want to talk about him taking big shots and delivering the ball on target

I think we should run a combination of whatever offenses are working for other teams in college or pro ... just put them in a blender ... no reason that wouldn't work.

Wasn't it just a few seasons ago that several posters were clamoring for a pro style offense?

Agree. Jeff made a lot of nice plays.... he just needs to carry that through to the red zone and we'll be fine.
