... but then that would defeat the purpose of being able to bring up SOS and asking WWSOSD? and discussing all the associated IF statements that only exist in the alternate realities where SOS is somehow still coaching at UF.

This. If the coaches felt there was any better option Driskel would've been pulled.

He could, in the 92 Tennessee game he pulled Shane, then pulled Dean and it was the 3rd string guy who actually got us some garbage time points.

The offense ran 77 plays. Driskel didn't have any more mistakes than the other offensive players. JD made a few big mistakes, that leaves 70+ plays he did his job. The problem is TEAM. Every series somebody whiffed a block, usually in the red zone. We had a 3rd & 3 in the 2nd half, option right play and Joyer blocked nobody. Jones had a fumble. Burton had a fumble. When Driskel fumbled late it was because McCord blew right past Garcia. Purifoy had some nice plays, but missed a couple tackles and one gave them 30 yds. Then he makes a simple play in the 4th qtr and stands up giving the 'incomplete' signal as if he made a great play. That stuff burns me up when the scoreboard says the other team is winning. Maye got roasted by Dorsett on Miami's 52 yd bomb TD, but he played ok after that. Ajagbe had NO carries and one catch. That's on the coaches. Why didn't Herndon get in the game? 77 snaps is plenty to rotate more than Jones and Brown who both got less than 3 ypc. Driskel didn't screw up any more than anybody else.
