I will keep saying this. Cam Newton is overrated.

...and now he may be digressing.

I know the Seahawks are a great defensive team, but they had to travel all the way east and play at 1:00...a huge disadvantage hostorically.

Ive been telling all of my friends here in Carolinas that they have seen the best of Cam. He will have some brilliant days, but he is not going to become what many thought after his rookie season.

He had his least productive game as a pro. His clock is ticking.

He put up essentially the same stats he did last year against Seattle.

Also, I can buy cross-country travel being a problem mid-season, but for the first game? Nah.

He's been overrated since mid-season at Auburn. Not because he's bad, but because the media glorified him with superhero status - and he's not all that. If he hadn't had the good fortune of stepping into Gus Malzahn's offensive system, the whole Cam Newton phenomenon wouldn't have existed.

Well it might have....had he kept his hands off of a laptop....he would've been a two year star in Urban's system....and...*full disclosure alert*...I maaay have a different opinion of him as well.

Yeah I don't think this means anything. They didn't fly in right before the game.

I think I heard this week, that the win percentage of West Coast teams playing in the East at 1pm is less than 40%...So I think it makes at least some difference.

But truth be known...In year 3, I would expect Cam and Co. to score more than 7 points even if THEY were the road team...AT Seattle.

Super talent with something missing upstairs. If he ever gets it together, he could be one of the all time greats. Only time will tell. I'm not betting on him to make it happen, however.

Yeah I'm not sure what happened with him. I thought after his rookie year if he could overcome some maturity issues he was going to be a star. Now it seems he's just not all that dominating. I didn't watch one play of the game but 7 points? It's year 3 now, they're going to get really annoyed if they don't make any kind of jump I'm assuming. Also you have to think they aren't in the same class as New Orleans and/or Atlanta. The Bucs seem to be awful and I don't see Carolina winning more than 7 or 8 games. Are they getting tired of Rivera yet?

And I think this makes sense, but not in the first game of the season. It's not like a regular season game where you spend all week practicing on the West Coast and then fly in two days before the game.

They still practiced in Seattle. They traveled as normal I believe.

I have a very hard time believing they didn't come in earlier for the first game of the season.

I dont get that feeling around here. Truth is they are still relatively low in football IQ compared to more established fanbases.

Exhibit A: they wanted Fox gone so badly, that they welcomed Rivera with open arms. Hows that working out? :joecool:

Exhibit B: Some celebrated when Rob Chudzinski got the Cleveland head coaching spot...They blamed him for the demise of Cam last season....though, I think we will find he as the reason Cams rookie year was such a splash.
