Make changes in offensive philosophy now, or suffer the consequences. I think WM could be gone by the end of the year if he loses to UGA and FSU along with the Miami loss. Especially if we lose in a similar manner to the Miami loss. If the mood in the stands is any indicator, the moans and groans with this offensive philosophy will end his tenure quickly. WM thinks he is building something, I see stagnation and mediocrity.

I agree. We shouldn't confuse "offense" philosophy with "game" philosophy though. I really like the way he controls the games and uses TOP to his advantage. This can still be done without being so damn conservative on offense.

Fortunately I doubt that Foley agrees with you. And of the head coaches likely to be available at the end of the season who do you replace him with?

Do you guys realize that the games we have been the least conservative on are the games we lose?

    Miami - 33 passes. L
    Lousiville -29 passes. L
    georgia - 29 passes. L

    LSU - 12 passes. W
    USC - 17 passes. W
    A&M - 17 passes. W

To say the offense hasn't improved would be absolutely incorrect.

The coaches can't stop the turnovers. We put up 400 yards without an effective run game.

Many of those extra passes probably came when we were trailing late and desperately trying to come back.

What offensive philsophy do we propose to overcome five turn overs?

Well, Miami and uga were almost never more than one possession games so I don't think we had to throw until the final drive, so that still doesn't account for the discrepancy in passing between the wins and loses. From what I remember about Lousiville is we came out throwing the ball early and often.

We also needed comebacks against A&M and LSU, but didn't resort to throwing the ball... and the results speak for themselves.

If Boom wanted a "come to Jesus" moment.......he should have had to walk out of the stadium like the rest of us through the craziness, having insults thrown at you (some English; didn't have my Berlitz book for Spanish translation) and physically pushed by rude opposing fans. That image would be etched in his memory.

Meyer had his "come to Jesus" moment when he and his staff realized they couldn't run the spread the way they wanted with Leak and the rest of Zook's recruits. The offense was changed to match the personnel. The dogged insistence on some magical "pro style" silver bullet is no better than forcing Chris Leak to be Alex Smith. Our personnel doesn't match our scheme. Either change the scheme or change the personnel.

The difference is in the losses we weren't running the ball effectively. In the wins we were. I think we're a conservative offense because no matter what, we try to establish the run (save the Louisville game maybe). I'm not against being a run oriented team, it just seems that Muschamp just throws all of his cards on the table at the beginning of the game and says: "If you can stop the run, you might win".

I think this philosophy will work most of the time, but when things go bad (turnovers) or you're having an off day and can't establish the run, we have no devices to compensate. With our recruiting and talent level, we'll still have good seasons, but I don't think this philosophy will win any NC's unless we get really lucky.

I still think we're a good team and will win 9-10 games this season. We'll win a game or two against top ranked teams, but we're probably going to have 1-2 more "off days" which will more than likely result in losses.

The voice of reason. The gameplan works if we take care of the football. If we don't turn over the ball we win.

Still dumbfounded as to the 2 point conversion though lol.

Every successful Florida coach knows beating UGA, FSU, and or Miami, SC are critical to a successful tenure here do to saturated recruiting grounds and overall SEC East success. I made a whole thread on it last year but Muschamp has to start treating these games as more than just another game and treat them like rivalry games. Not for the team's benefit as much as for the fans, they can stomach losing to LSU/Bama much better than the aforementioned rival teams.

Will we continue to be a run-first team when Grier, who already has thrown 14 TDs in just six quarters of play, comes to UF?

The main difference I see between those losses and the wins, with the exception of the South Carolina game, we held LSU and A&M to NO score in the second half. You can also add Missouri to that list. We play such a close to the vest game that we must depend on the defense to shut out the other team in the second half to win.

Once again, Oak provides a degree of rational thought. Yesterday's loss was not due to offensive philosophy. It was a matter of execution.
