As usual, it seems that our great nation has plenty of stupid to go around. Police acting foolishly (see, I'm not the president so it's ok for me to say that) - antagonizing the media right now probably isn't the brightest idea. Meanwhile, some citizens of Ferguson aren't exactly helping their case either... Really, Molotov cocktails y'all? Terrible situation all the way around, I hope that things settle down there soon without anyone else getting hurt or killed.

It's something that pops up with some regularity in this country. There are certainly some horribly managed police departments and the job is rife with the "wrong" types of personalities to put it mildly.

I respect greatly the role of law enforcement but do wish that we could reform the process to bring in more accountability and remove the bully element.

now that we have red light cameras and automatic speed cameras the police have less stuff to do. It sickens me how much our police force has become militarized. Serve and protect is an after thought, now it is shoot and control. We are losing our freedom everyday.

The problem is accountability, plain and simple.

I applaud, for example, the increased use of cameras in squad cars. I truly believe every officer should be equipped with a camera and that every interaction should be documented and archived.

But there's a lot of corruption there. A lot of cops know where to go, how to find the "blind spots." Backups disappear. Things "happen."

Cops are too often just government workers with guns. The propaganda level in this country would be the envy of Hitler.

Any other groups you want to disparage/alienate while you're making these perplexing statements?

A citizens oversight/review committee with some power might help but in most places where that is suggested, police departments and their political allies fight it desperately. In the end they are usually afforded the privilege of after action review and get to sit in judgement of their own actions.

    Holder called the family

Did he call the families of the fast and furious victims?

0 speaking out, but no mention of all the other black on black murders across the country or the actions that precipitated the wrongful shooting in this case. seems like the victim is always an angel in his eyes as long as they are a minority

Sure, that's the problem. Don't choke on your resentment.

Pretty sure it's a common occurrence for the public to express concern when the police shoot an unarmed person, especially a teenager.

no that isn't the problem but wondering why the doublle standard. no resentment just upset that their attention to violent crime is only given when it is politically beneficial for them to do so

are they choking on their hypocracy?

so teenagers shooting unarmed people on a scale of an order of magnitude exponential to bad cop shoots isn't worthy of public concern of equal weight?

Would it have been his son? From what I have heard so far on this is that the police were in the wrong. Granted I have been spending more of my time watching ISIS take over the ME and Israel trying to protect their citizens from ROCKETS being flown to their country to kill their citizens.

a policeman shot an unarmed citizen which is a tragedy and they must be held accountable but I will never understand young blacks who think this is a good reason to go out and destroy their own community and harm honest business people-the mentatlity of that is beyond me

People need to stop challenging the police because it will never end well.

Historically ..... seems a lot of cops have gone on to law school and become lawyers. Don't know how many became liberal lawyers, though.

Agree. Bad cop out of control. Again. But the level of attention given by Holder and 0 is in stark contrast to concern they had for fast and furious victims.
