I think we can hang with anyone in the country. We've proven that this season.

I think no team in the county BUT possibly Michigan State(when healthy) beats us more than four times out of ten. The only team we go in and I'd be 50/50 that we win or lose would be them. They shoot the three well which is a problem for us, and the senior advantage and coaching advantage is completely evened out. Anyone else, we should be favored to win...but it doesn't at all mean we will. But I do know for sure...it's going to take a perfect game from most to get us out of the tourney...I mean perfect.

That kind of sums us up well. We don't dominate in any one area, but we are really good at taking advantage of our opponent's mistakes.

Our wins are more along the lines of the Blob eats Chicago rather than the Nutcracker Suite.

    It's OK too.

    Nah, you're crazy.

Actually, I think 08 is reasonably close. However, the way things tend to fall in this particularly segment of this particular universe, 40/60 can readily manifest as 10/90, or 70/30, and 50/50 can just as readily manifest as 20/80 or 80/20.

I think that we can beat either team.....but between either Duke and Cuse. I'd rather play Duke. They are one of the worst defensive teams I have seen this year.

Syracuse is not that great on D either, as long as a team figures out how to patiently beat the zone. Duke did that last night for the most part. It kind of surprised me they did not get the 2 bigs to foul out.

Duke has a great offense. Syracuse has the better defense. Not sure which we match up better with, but the Syracuse zone, plus length, will be a real problem for us if we can't make 3s.

Duke doesn't travel as well as Syracuse. Better for tickets to have Duke go. When in doubt, go with the more favorable crowd (both for atmosphere and for tickets) ;)

Syracuse has length and rim protectors galore. That makes for tough shots. Duke is playing better as a team. That said I think our defense is second to none!

I always take a good defense against a good offense.....my issue with the cuse 2-3 is that if we go cold from the outside (which is a tendancy of ours) we could have issues against Cuse.

Duke I think we can handle relatively easily. I don't fear them at all.

I agree with the poll that will come out tomorrow that we are the best team in the nation. I really believe it's true and so does the money (Vegas). We have some tough games the next couple of weeks - if we win out I don't see how anyone could doubt it but we need Hill back to win them all.

    My honest assessment:

Out of all the teams in the tourney Syracuse would be the worst matchup for us and I hope we don't land them. In past years our weakness has been very athletic teams (like UT) but that doesn't seem to be a problem this year. What does seem to be a problem is our offense against zone Ds and our defense against solid 3 point shooting teams. Syracuse specializes in both.

As for Duke I do think we have a better squad. They have, imo, the best player in the country and if he is playing to his strengths they are a tough out. That being said he is fairly inconsistent and will disappear at times. A tough squad to play to be sure but we have the edge.

I don't know how we would do against Duke. Perhaps their defense is bad (although Saturday they pretty much shut down the Syracuse guards), but on the other end, who do e matchup against Jabari?

Both of those teams are very good and at best a push for Florida. Hell, we are struggling to win against crappy SEC teams. The Ole Miss zone caused UF problems what do you think the "Cuse zone would do?

I disagree. i think they both have very good players, and a good team. The only one I really see with great players, but a poor "team" is Kentucky.

I agree with this. Although I think Syracuse would be the second worst matchup for us. I believe we match up very well with Duke, who is vulnerable to penetration.
