The SEC vacated the 1984 title in May 1985 and Dickey was not appointed Tennessee AD until August 1985. Dickey replaced Woodruff, so feel free to lambast Woodruff, but lay off Dickey.

This is why we should've kept Zook, we would've had 5 NCs by now.

"Dothraki Wedding" is my new favorite phrase to creep into the popular vernacular (it's a Game of Thrones reference). The Dothraki are a tribe of fierce, barbaric warrior types. At a Dothraki wedding, which is one of the few times they all gather together, they have no external threats (it's a wedding) but they have to kill something (because they're Dothraki). So they start killing each other because it's what they do and they have no one else to do it to.

This describes the Gator Country forums in a nutshell. There's noone else to slaughter here, so we just slaughter our own. You can't even really get mad or sad about it - it's just kinda who we (and, to be fair, fans of sports teams on those teams' forums) are.

This. He's an excellent DC but made too many mistakes with the Offense from philosophy to recruiting to roster management to his choices of OC. He could be a good head coach if he learns from this and takes a very different approach next time but its not going to be here. The hole is too deep and next year is not going to be some miracle turnaround looking at our roster. He really should have proven himself and made his mistakes at a smaller program before getting an offer to be head coach at a program like UF.

I know the timeline. You are correct in that Dickey didn't have direct involvement (he wasn't yet there), but Dickey supported Woodruff's actions, and said so publicly. I am one of the few who do not have as much heartburn about the Dickey Era at Florida (he did what he thought would work best in the SEC of the 1970s), but after Woodruff led the charge to strip us of our title, it gave me a sour taste in my mouth to hear Dickey support that action. Guess he had a bone to pick with Pell or a bunch of supporters who wanted Gene Ellenson to replace Graves...

I'm kind of ashamed of our fan base at this point. Much more than our team.

    Bunch of spoiled entitled brats!

Hungary, obviously you are allowed to talk. You do. You chip in with the same line frequently.

I think I have it now. Champ is over his head. Is that right?
