    Yeah if you want to go that route a degree makes sense. Most pts though just get a cert. My degree is in poli sci and I was a dod consultant for 8 years before making the switch to training.

    Just wondering because I would love to train athletes.

    Although 4 years is pretty harsh.

    You can still train athletes and get certs for that specifically without going the degree route. Just seems the guys doing it in big time places do have the schooling too.

    Just from my own experience as I had the same goal

    Found out my basal metabolic rate, and reduced my calorie intake by 300 from that number, at-least 5 times a week

    Switched from beer to wine for the most part

    Did cardio, but didn't start lifting until I lost about 12-15lbs (my goal was to lose 20)

    Started lifting high reps, and have since switched it to 8-12

    Went from 22% body fat to less than 10%

    I've lost 20 lbs and fluctuate a couple pounds or 2, over or higher, generally based on the week versus weekend.

    Have washboard abs now.
