    http://downtrend.com/brian-carey/bad-news-calling-obama-by-his-name-makes-you-a-hater/

Here’s what the King of Tingles said:

“It seems there’s a very interesting compelling continuing effort to delegitimize this president… But they first of all referred to him, not as the ‘President of the United States’ but as a ‘liberal leader.’ They refer to the health care act of 2010 as ‘a bill.’ They refer to him as ‘Obama.’ They don’t say the ‘the president.’ They don’t say the ‘a law.’ They don’t even speak the language we normally speak in civilized political debate.”

So there you have it. Now, President Obama’s last name is being used to denigrate the man. This should lead us all to wonder: is there any part of the name Barack Hussein Obama that is politically correct?

Or is Chris Matthews just plain crazy?

There are as many leftys who couldn't spell Bush's first name if you gave them the G and the e. They probably thought his name was Bush Bush.

For the spelling challenged, "W" was pretty easy. My personal fav "Shrub".

In 1996 I remember Bob Dole leveling the same charge as this article, Clinton had referred to a former president by name and not title, Dole said he wouldn't stoop to that level when talking about a president, he would always refer to them by title first.
    Funny how times change.

I actually probably agree with Matthews here, but I recognize that I am a minority on these types of respect issues on here. The situation is certainly not new with Obama's presidency, but his party certainly seems more important to many than his office. Same with the last couple presidents (at least), and I think it is a bit sad.

I just think we've gotten more casual over the years so calling a Prez by their last name is not that big of a deal. And I think W started the W craze and even had "W" re-election bumper stickers.

Of course, Pubs never called Clinton "Jefferson" or Carter "Earl" so although calling Obama "Hussein" is a technically correct use of his middle name, many wont admit that they do it simply to imply he is a Muslim.

Every word in that quote of Matthews is some of the most rarefied idiocy I have ever read. All Presidents in the past 50 years at the absokut minimum have been referred to solely by their last name in casual conversation and even journalism without controversy. Nor should it be controversial, it is perfectly acceptable.

The guy has disrespected the office, thus why should we respect him. I know I don't. BTW I will call him what I wish.

You are hitting on perhaps the main issue for me. He disrespected the office, in your opinion. Bush disrespected the office in the opinion of many others on the left. When our view of the reality of these people becomes so entrenched with our political leanings, I begin to feel very uncomfortable with the realities. I would never say that you should not be allowed to call Obama what you wish, but I am uncomfortable with the name calling, particularly when it may be based on partisanship. Since I don't know how to know when partisanship is the main factor, I will refrain. Instead, I will try to criticize the policies, rather than the man.

Since you question the Constitutionality of something in about 50% of your posts, I have to ask you, is it unconstitutional for a lesbian to run for President?

If not, then why are you so carpet munch-ophobic? Are there no Pub lesbians?

I have no problem with her and her lifestyle as long as she's proud and loud about it. Now the older voters might not like that aspect of her life, but lets be real here. People do vote for other people they feel best represents their own personal values in life.

She needs to come out and tell the American people her entire story (fully vetted, we don't want another Muslim hater of Catholics in the White House) including what happened to those now dead people that were involved in the White Water scam with she and slick Willy.

Hiding the truth about a politician is lying.
