I know we all love to jump on B. Obama; but, when you put it in context it's not THAT much different than the 1.2+ Billion/year GW Bush gave during his administration.

And, yes, I think the Fed Gov't is too big and we spend way too much on EVERYTHING.

It's not different at all. It's part of the same "program." Though one of the Wikipedia sources that still works (from the BBC) reported back in 08 that much of the money actually either doesn't ever really get to Pakistan (i.e. it doesn't leave the US) b/c it covers the costs of consulting or it is funneled back through civilian American contractors.

One of the many reasons why he sucked too. Two wrongs don't make a/it right. This is unacceptable. They protect the people that are killing our troops.

Was he invited to the WH? Obama gave money, Billions of dollars, to a known terrorist organization.

Do you think that the fact that Pakistan has nukes might play a role in our giving them money...to, in effect, help keep the country stable?

You think extortion is a way to get what you want from the U.S.? Have nuke... we'll extort money from the U.S.. And you're okay with adding another money sucker to that list?

I simply pointed out--or actually asked a question to you about it, though I was suggesting through it what I believe to be the driving reason--it is to help keep Pakistan stable given its history of instability, or actions in the region, and their being a nuclear nation.

It's not adding another money sucker, since we've been giving them money for awhile now (since shortly after 9/11), but it also seems that Pakistan doen't physically receive a large chunk of what we allegedly give them, that a substantial proportion of the money ends back up in the US in the hands of defense contractors/consultants (see that bbc link above).

As for having a problem or not, all I can say is that it doesn't keep me awake at night

This is the thing, isn't it? Do we really have 1.4 billion to give in the first place?
