    Just think, in 1967 the gator was put on the endangered species list. It is one of the very few species to actually recover enough to be taken back off the list.

    Edit: I remember when hunting them was banned.

    Yep that's a good size gator, I've got an old Bull Gator on our farm, he's been there since I was a kid, he has got to be over 13 ft long, and old as dirt. I hope I can afford a tag this yr, I would like to catch me a big ole gator this yr.

    Yep. Up here in Wilmington outskirts as well. Brunswick and Horry counties are full of them.

    They are quite the amazing animal. I always thought it was really cool to be able to see alligators all over UF's campus.

    For the amount of them and their ability to do damage, they are (thankfully) pretty man friendly animals.
