Needs to workshop the name too. Nothing is more generic and forgetable than the name Gary Johnson.
Sounds like the name of a fake president in a movie or t.v. show
I really never understood what people mean by "substance." Just seems to be some kind of catchall for people disatisfied with politicians, like the music thread we're debating now. Obama is U2 and Gary Johnson is the indie band with like 200 fans, so Johnson's music must be automatically be more substantial, because people never heard of it and it isnt popular. And since Johnson realistically will never be president, there's no risk of him going pop and selling out. Its like political hipsterdom.
Or the name you check into a hotel room with when you're being incognito.
We do, but way too many people fear the "wasted vote" and abide by our two party overlords when push comes to shove. Libertarians garnered 1.2% last election. I'd be shocked if that was anywhere near the actual level.
I imagine you vote Democrat but is there not a party that better represents your views?
Sure, but that doesnt seem to be the point of parties to me. The point of parties is to win elections and govern, not to represent all my views. The most useful parties are the ones that can win elections. At least the Tea Party had that right, by not going third party.
I think more voters would render that less true. Make voting mandatory. Would probably never happen, but very few people participate in the political process, and they tend to be the most passionate about politics.
Meh. That's like being a Kentucky basketball fan under Cal. You barely have an attachment to these one and done players, but hey, at least you're winning. Maybe I'm a naive purist, or maybe I just like taking pot shots at UK.
