The guy is a flat out winner. UF is not a basketball school (but then again if our football team continues to stink we just might be) and it would seem any major school's needing a coach would be nuts not to go after BD. I'm glad he is here and I hope we can keep him whatever it takes, and maybe the reason he stays is he not only loves it here but he is a Legend here. When uf builds a new BB place, ought to name it the Billy Dome. We are soooo fortunate he is here. I would go on to say he is the best coach period to be at uf.

And Foley. He has said that several times.

Gracious. We get one McD's kid cleared to play and this place turns into a theme park on steroids. There are many reasons BillyD has stayed at UF this long. And yes, we're very fortunate. And no, he will not be at UF forever.

Why not? He isn't going to another college. Where else is he going in his career? I doubt he tries to go to the NBA again

I used to think this, but I could see it going either way at this point. He's had plenty of opportunities to leave, and remains here. Maybe he wants to win another title to show it wasn't a fluke, but he could very well just spend his career in Gainesville.

As for us being a football school over a basketball school, maybe to some. We may be a top 5 football school, but we are still a top 15 basketball school.

UF is an all sports school, Foley and the UF admins make sure every sport has every opportunity to succeed. Isn't Donovan's motto "you don't mess with happy"? He has everything he needs here to win and win big, no reason to go anywhere else.

I think you only have to look back to when he committed to the Orlando Magic and realized he made a mistake. He opened his heart to the country on national TV saying that his heart was at UF.

His kids are being raised here and this is home.However. Billy has hinted about why coaches go on to NBA in older years because recruiting is so exhausting, time consuming. and stressful, and you don't have to worry about that in the pros

I like to think it's because I'm a fan of UF. You're welcome for my keeping him here with my awesomeness.

I felt like BD was giving us a heads up for a possibility of the NBA maybe after his kids are all through school?just hoping he is mentoring someone to take his place or maybe Pelphry taking over from where ever he'll be if that would happen

Ehh Pelphry kind of...well yea that Arkansas stint was pretty much awful. If Donovan god forbid left in the next few years. Smart and young Pitino should be our two guys we chase.

Recruiting is tough , but compare a 30 + game schedule with a 90 game plus schedule (playoffs) plus the travelling involved. It's year round in the NBA, and the pressure is unbelievable.

Yeah, that might not work. but kinda felt like Pelphry had recruits coming in and lined up and that Arky perhaps got rid of him to early.Maybe not
