    Fired up that the season is finally here. Even though it is just an exhibition, I'm still excited to get back in the O'Dome. Hoping for a special ride this year, but really just itching for some hoops.

    I agree. I am excited to see this exhibition. Among the more interesting thing to me are:

    1. How Finney-Smith looks. The annual transfer player, Macklin, then Rosario, now Finnney-Smith, reported to be the best player in practice during his sitting out season is always an intriguing player to see early.

    2. How Young and Harris play together. I would guess barring a suspension issue, that with Yeguete still limited, Young and Harris will be on the court together a number of minutes.

    3. Michael Frazier in the starting lineup. Will he focus better on defense.

    4. Can Hill play within himself and the UF concept and limit turnovers and can he defend.

    Exactly.

    I will be watching to see if PY gets touches every time we are in a half-court set offense. It drove me crazy during the Lee/Roberson/Walsh years when Peep and Matt jacked up quick shots and David didn't even touch the leather.

    If there is such a thing as a legit DII team, it sounds like we are playing one.

    Florida Southern was named the preseason favorite in the Sunshine State Conference and starts the season at #14 in the Preseason Division II Bulletin Top 25 Poll.

    I still don't get this criticism. It has been bandied about often, but I never once thought he looked that bad on the defensive end of the court. Sure, he was behind our more experienced kids and he had some freshmen lulls and mistakes. On the whole, though, he was a great defensive rebounder, he was effective on the wings of the zone despite being somewhat undersized, and he played with intensity and focus in man. I don't expect him ever to be a dynamite defender since he is sort of caught between positions (not quick enough laterally to handle smaller collegiate twos, not long enough to contest taller shooting threes), but he was much better than expected as a freshman.

    Wilbekin will not play until Dec I think. The others, who knows? There were rumors of DFS, and Harris suspensions, but now we don't know.

    Awesome thanks.. I didn't really want to dish out 10 bucks for GV again because last time I did that I forgot to take it off the CC and ended up paying for 7 months for something I only watched 2-3 times in the month I originally got it for.

    krazyk---what about Humphrey? Couldn't play as a frosh. Don't remember Speights doing anything as a frosh; Erving didn't do much as a frosh. I think there are plenty of examples.

    The folks who always complain about Billy not playing the back-ups should come out for this one. With the injuries and sickness, we may get a full dose of little billy and Kurtz!

    It was Pete. He was from Michigan. It is pretty much common knowledge that Pete is short for Tony.

    The PA announcer in the O'dome used to say "Pete from Dete."

    He is a great defensive rebounder, that is different than defense. Maybe his progress during the year was muddied by that foul on the 3 point shot just before half of the Michigan game. I am hoping his USA basketball experience help make him a better defender and I really hope you are right and my worries are over blown.
