Can you explain to me why showing a valid ID to vote discriminates against minorities?
In the states without ID requirements, the voters in question are primarily poor, older minorities. They don't drive and don't have DLs. It is a burden to get to the DL office and to pay the cost to have an ID that they only need for voting. They have voted for decades without IDs, so the impact of this law hits them moreso than anyone.
If they dont drive how are going to get to the voting booth? IF they really care about voting they will get there and they dont have to have a dl to get a voter id card.
Fred, I'm sure you libbies can find a way to register your low low low information voters. For example:
"Elizabeth Warren’s daughter Amelia Warren Tyagi is leaving nothing to chance in the 2012 election for her mother. Warren Tyagi, the chair of the George Soros funded Demos Foundation, has bankrolled, through Demos, former members of ACORN in their pursuit to have the Commonwealth’s welfare agency perform a voter registration drive. The Boston Herald has the story, although they missed the Warren familial connection…."
If they are too lazy or incompetent to register, just use tax payer and puppet master money to force them to the polls. You dems should be so proud.
If they need help, I'm sure the Florida GOP can provide some tips.
There is nothing dumber than bringing up Acorn. It's been gone for years now.
Says The "But Bush" Man. He's been gone longer than ACORN but sure as hell doesn't stop you from your GWB harping over and over and over and over.
Now what was that you said about spouting off on things gone for years??.....DUMB??
You are indeed a piece of work.
Bush's damage still lingers. Acorn was never a real issue anyway.
You are something else, I swear. Obama's damage so far is bad enough but talk about lingering--Hussein's real damage hasn't even fully begun yet. And of course in YOUR mind, ACORN was never a 'real issue anyway'---how convenient of you.
Talk about hypocrisy at its shining finest--YOU epitomize the definition. YOU can 'But Bush' to the point of even some of your own brethren getting tired of it, but when someone on the right brings up ACORN--it is all of a sudden meaningless and without substance.
I suppose your delusion and denial, not to mention the ultimate spin and hypocrisy you spew with ever post, can be attributed to grumpy old advancing age.
Barack & Eric are furious with the supreme court for this vote--barack will be sure to lecture the court during his next state of the union about what they should have done
Where did he say that? He said illegals.. Not any specific race or color.
Are all illegals a certain color or race?
I think not.
Demos are concerned because these minority voters without ids are typically bussed to the polls and given handouts of who and what to vote for. Many times they are promised free lunches or dinners for doing so. The party concern is that if these voters have to get an id, they may not do it, therefor you lose those "guaranteed votes". Democrats simply want to reserve the right to "cheat"...if they need to.
Was a joke. Section 4 and 5 were used to deny preclearance to practices that disproportionately burden, dilute, abridge or deny the right to vote on the basis of race or color.
The joke was, that by saying that Section 4 had been standing in the way of those laws, it tacitly admits that they had a racial voting impact (or else Section 4 wouldn't have mattered to them).
We up to speed now?
Tammany Hall on steroids paid for by you and me.
You missed the point, since he was refering to illegals they have NO right to vote regardless of their color/race.
Since you brought up race/color (when he was commenting on preventing illegals from voting), it sounds like you believe all illegals are of a certain "race" or "color".
Look up VRA preclearance before you read this, it will make more sense.
I was making a joke. He said "Hooray! The VRA is struck down! We can do these things now." I made the point that, at least in theory, the only reason the VRA would have been in the way of you doing those things to start with is if DOJ found that they had a tendency to deny, abridge, dilute, whatever the voting right (an actual existing voting right, meaning of citizens) on the basis of race or color.
It's a joke that requires knowing what the VRA did, and maybe that's the problem, but you missed it.
The authority on all things relevant has spoken.
I grew up in the 60s. Approximately 7% of African Americans voted then. More than 60% of African Americans vote now. An African American was elected (twice) as President.
Please advise which states should have to get the "permission" of the federal government to make changes to voting regulations. By what criteria should the states be selected?
2013 is not 1960, even though some still think it is.
Where is the concern among African Americans about the number of children who are being raised without a father in the house, the number of children who do not even know who their father is, the number of children who receive no child support from their fathers and the number of murders of African Americans by African Americans?
Like a certain two letter poster on this site, this guy can't be real. Just can't be. No one is that silly/ OUT THERE.
