nah- she is trying to put some distance between herself and obama and Michelle's comments about being proud to be an American for the first time

I'm proud to be an American when I wake up in the morning, not sure why someone who has devoted her life to "serving" the country would have to quantify when or why she is proud.

She has a good point here, if you look at the context. She's talking I think more about his efforts post-Presidency than during, but I appreciate that she isn't so partisan that she can't see anything good from the other side.

Whether there's a shred of truth to it or not, she will run to Obama's right as a campaigner while giving a sly wink to the left at the same time.

The idea will be, "didn't like Obama? I'll do all the things better that bothered you."

I still don't think she will get the same pass from the press that Obama recieved.

Obama does nothing but raise money during multiple crises. I'm still proud to be an American, and spent 4 years defending our country during the war in 'Nam.

I note that those who dislike America so much stay here. Who, if anyone, has moved to Iraq, Iran, the horn of Africa or Bangledesh?

The pubs will bring up all the Clinton's greatest hits. It remains to be seen if there is any stomach for it out there beyond Fox News.

She doesn't handle tough, unexpected questions very well.

His sub Saharan work was primarily while he was president, and does in fact deserve praise from all sides. It was a smart simple non political way to save many lives and earn goodwill for the country in the process.

Well, they certainly did with Bush's fake "compassionate conservatism" BS.

With a nod to the Miami reply running gag:

    WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE??

It is the line that keeps on giving.

Bush did well on that issue and deserves to be praised for it. Not hard to understand. The rightwing media misrepresentation was typical though:

...You forgot to include where your quote there is from. Can we all take some guesses? Media Matters, HuffPo, Mother Jones?

Bush deserves tremendous credit for the work he has done in Africa, both during his presidency and afterwards. To quote the one true king:

“A good act does not wash out the bad, nor a bad act the good. Each should have its own reward.”
