It's sensationalist, ratings-driven commentary. They have to insert something into the commentary that makes the audience go out into the world and discuss the network so that we'll all tune in and get branded by advertising.

I like Herbstriet, he's an entertainer, can't just go with the favorites week after week, Boring = low ratings, and UF is as good a favorite to pick to get upset as any...

    Glad he was dead wrong

People often forget that the "E" in "ESPN" stands for Entertainment...

I'm reminded of a picture of Herbstreit gushing after OSU scored on the opening KO in our NC game.

I wonder how his predictions taste this morning. I haven't watched him since his BS that the Gators didn't belong back in '06.

Heribie is a taking head, talking heads have to say stuff to make it interesting or nobody will watch. That being said, we haven't looked good in an opener in a few years, more like the Keystone cops! While we haven't lost one, we didn't look prepared.

Yesterday we looked poised, even with a bunch of new blood on the D, there was no chaos. The O while not necessarily lighting it up like some want them to, put together some nice drives and didn't shoot themselves in the foot(bad snaps, stupid penalties, etc.). Penalties did raise their ugly head again, hopefully this is a first game thing, we will see more next week and be able to better judge that. Will did mention it during his halftime interview, so it's on his radar, as it should be.

Cut Herbie some slack, he made a bold prediction, was wrong, admitted he was wrong and apologized for it(did not need to do this)!

It's Great to be a Florida Gator!

The pick was insulting. BS, he needed to apologize.

So true! Herbie is just trying to remain relevant......give the folks in Bristol a reason to renew his contract. However, with hair that color he might take a crack @ Ronald McDonald gigs.

I take him about as seriously as I take the Love Bug car of the 70s with the same name I believe.

His opinion is about as valuable as that of Steve Young for the NFL. Honk if you sacked Troy Smith, Herbie.

Nah, former osu QB's have trouble picking winners, just ask his buddy Art.

    In the BCSCG?

Not me, I predicted UF to win and win by a considerable margin too.

I said Toledo gets a couple of FG's, and that's what happened. I'm a little disappointed that we didn't air it out more and left a couple of scores on the field, but overall, I knew the Gator D was going to dominate this team yesterday.

I have to admit, I'm pretty surprised he was so down on us this year to pick Toledo to beat us.

I was listening to the pre-game show while I was tail-gaiting and listening to some of our guys on the radio talking this up as a possible upset game and it was sort of amusing to me. Even Pat Dooley thought we'd only beat them by ten.

This game was never really in doubt, and the score could have been worse if Muschamp had wanted it to be.
