Well yeah, lol. Who's going to admit that his first several options fell through (for whatever reasons)? This isn't even a knock against Muschamp, no one is going to say their fifth/sixth choice was who they hired.

Helton interview didn't sound like he was staying.

I honestly don't know who would and to be honest, after USC showing today I may be completely wrong. I just didn't think prior to todays game that he would be a big improvement.

This isn't over. From what I'm seeing on Twitter, he's being retained to coach TEnds. Why accept that over an OC position here?

Do most of you really think that if Helton was “The Guy” he would have taken the USCe OC job or TEs coach instead of UF, espically if an agreement was in place? It’s obvious he wasn’t the guy, so stop sweating the announcement and wait until WM announces who it really is. It’s possible the next OC could be making a laterial move, since not all OC like thier current role at the Univ. they may be at. Brad Lawing was taken from USCe and nobody expected that, so it is plausible. Woo Saa.

Looks like Nebraska's Tim Beck could now be the guy. His team plays UGA on Jan 1st and Muschamp has told potential recruits that he'll let them know by this date.

    What say you?

When Champ came to FLA 3 yrs ago, I spent time looking over all the candidates including Applewhite and decided that he would be ok if chosen. I also liked Helton and the NC St. guy and felt that of the four or so names, all would be a step up and have notable resumes , spending time with good coachs. I also feel there's a lot of talent on the UF bench and hurt this year. I'd be surprised if our team isn't much better next year overall. I'm counting on it. I'm really excited about our young incoming quarterback and his excellent background also. Now, if we can get the offensive recruits we have commitments on this year, I look for a jump in offensive output next year....can't wait

Holding on to Cook & Lane, filling up on OL recruits, and bringing in a fresh, fired up OC should hopefully make a huge difference next year. Agreed.

Yes, I do think he would take SC OC over UF OC. Why wouldn't he?

There was some talk early on that Tim Beck might be the hire. He has a state of 'Florida and 'Texas' background.

He wouldn't be the play caller at USC. Sarkisian calls the plays.

Not if an agreement was in place with UF, which most already thought was the case. And why SC over UF? Do tell! Because he doesn't’ want to take his talent to the SEC and maybe be considered for an HC job if WM fails? Yea, that would be smart. I’d be up for challenges and the opurtunity to help lead UF in the best Conf.. You can stay in the PAC easy.

If will gets fired next year there is 0% chance JF hires a coach w/ 1year as a coordinator to be the HBC,

We have such a Gainesville centric view of the world. Nothing wrong with making almost a mill a year to live in Cali and coach the kids you know. Not like SC is UC Davis or Fresno state

. And if nothing is signed there is no "agreement in place" no matter what they discussed.
