    I'm still learning all this.

First I used to be able to do a word count using a location at the top. This has disappeared. What would I click on.

Also, several times indents start appearing out of nowhere. How could I get rid of them? I know it's just a few simple key words but I do not know them.

    Thanks a million in advance.

The word count has probably been looking back at you all the time you were looking for it at the top of the window. :) Good old Microsoft moved the actual word count to appear constantly on the bottom of the window. Take a look at the bottom left of the screen and you should see the page count and to the right of that is the current word count. You can click on the word count to see the other statistics.

I am not sure about the indent issue. This article describes how to manage indentations in Word 2013 so that might be helpful.

    Hope this helps.

Office has begun taking on visual studio's features.

Easiest way to manage tabs imo is to highlight the area and either tab to tab them in, or shift tab, to tab the selection out.
