108, you must be a college student with either your daddy or the taxpayers paying your school tab. An adult paying his/her own way could not possibly be this misinformed.

The fact that you think other countries, 16 of them in fact, ACTUALLY do it better, proves that you are in over your head here

Old, the man protected his men. I respect that. Too many leaders blame others. Like Obama. They aren't leaders. You can lead where you won't go and you can't teach what you don't know. Perfect description of our President...lead from behind Barak.

You want to see how a great leader handles it...See Bear Bryant. If Alabama won, it was his boys who won the game. If they lost, he and his coaching staff had a bad plan, did a bad job coaching job, did not have them ready to play.

I'm sorry but there are only so many ways to judge a countries healthcare system and when you look at the statistics the USA pays far more for far worse outcomes than 16 other countries, do you not believe in the statistics? Do you think we do it best?

Do these countries have lawsuits against doctors and hospitals as much as the USA? The threat of these suits have an affect on how doctors treat a patient and is probably why so many unnecessary tests are run. Too many people make it a way of life to see doctors. I've seen parents in the emergency room with kids with an earache or a toothache. I doubt if I saw a doctor a dozen times until I got out of college, not counting injuries. The first insurance coverage I had was my first job after college.
We probably would be able to get 2 or 3 ctscans before the citizens of these other countries could get 1. The biggest problem in this country has not been the system, but the abuse.

Another post trying compare mortality rates.

When will people realize that you are not comparing apples to apples? There are thousands of variables that can affect mortality rates. And American eating habits would be a huge one...

    Here is what I know:

You get diagnosed with a bad disease, please, tell me where you would rather be treated for said disease? Which one of those 16 countries should you(we) flock too?

Why do all of the rich heads of state/ or the head of the Canadian HCS come to the USA for the big time surgeries, etc?

    Exactly.

It is a joke. Is there a lot of improvement that can happen to our HCS? Absolutely. Is government involvement part of that? Are you freakin' kidding me?

    NCbulllgator---suggest you re-read my post----

I stated that taxpayers end up paying for others to get govt medical(Indians, seniors, military, vets, politicians, etc)

Why shouldn't taxpayers get govt medical? since they already pay for govt medical for others.

    ----------

to the poster who went about saying that foreign heads of state, wealthy, etc come to America for medical care
    ---true

but they pay for it(or their govt pays for it)

and the level of medical care they get in America---I can guarantee---is far, far better than vast majority of Americans get via coverage from insurance companies. And those foreign heads of state don't have to worry about some insurance company office worker a thousand miles away denying care that the primary care MD has ordered.

Where do we start in response to your post? Probably back when you were 5 but I'll take a brief shot.

Old, because our taxes pay for poor kids food, should we all get free food? Our taxes pay for our military to ride in tanks, aircraft carriers, Humvees. Should we all be provided a vehicle? Our taxes pay for our universities and college. Should there be no further cost to attend?

If we want everything to be free, all money we earn would need to be confiscated and then redistributed. And who decides how it is redistributed? And who decides what we get for free? It sounds like you want communism. Work for the state and they will give you an apt and food vouchers and health care.

The entitlement mentality has killed a high % of our citizen's initiative. We have those who honestly believe they are entitled to food, clothing, shelter, health care, retirement and a cell phone...because they were born.

If the government takes over the health care industry, who will be next?
Legal services? Food industry? Religion? Industry?

"A government big enough to give you everything is big enough to take everything."

We very well may indeed have the best doctors in the world, the best equipment in the world and the best technology in the world, those things however do not a good healthcare system make

Your point was that we are not 16th in the world with regards to healthcare, my point is that we are, despite having the many of the best doctors and the best technology, the current, unsustainable delivery system makes it so.

To what extent is our healthcare system denigrated due to our ubiquitous over indulgence of highly caloric foods and propensity to engage in as little physical activity as possible?
