What's ironic is all of the anti-capitalists who post on this board won't recognize the fact that Medicare loses 80B a year, more than all of the profits combined from the major insurers, to fraud. How much do you think United lost to fraud?

But in their warped mind, losing taxpayer money is ok when you are dealing with the 'greed' of business.

Most have no clue about the system. Many who think they know something because they have been patients are still completely clueless. The misinformation/propaganda that is out there for the mass consumption is disgusting.

But Obama after he promised to have a debate, let congress pass this thing without any debate, and without knowing what was on the bill. Idealogues drafted this bill with the clear goal of controlling the masses. And that is the truth.

have you checked what overhead costs are with for-profit insurers?

    what is 4.37% in dollars?

the irony though, is without insurance, health care would be much cheaper in general. But you generally need insurance for the big stuff, so Single Payer can leverage real cost controls.

If you don't mind waiting 6 months for a pacemaker or heart valve, single payer is great. LOL If you are still alive.

There will be massive "rationing" and waits to see specialists. But of course those with resources will opt for "concierge" medicine and will pay to receive the same level of care most of us receive now.

If you want single payer, immigrate to Canada or England and get on a waiting list.

I'm all for it. You can eliminate a lot of overhead that way. But will the doctors still insist on having assembly line medicine, lining up the patients like heifers to slaughter.

I see no reason we can't get some doctors to work for say, a salary in the range of 100k a year. Give them every other weekend off and only require a 2 year degree. If they are going to do surgery require them to have a 4 year degree plus 2 year trade school practicing on the uninsured. If we drop the pay and requirements then the cost of health insurance should come down. Oh, I almost forgot they will also be immune to being sued for malpractice.

Fraud and abuse of private healthcare insurance runs as high as $.45 on the dollar. Much higher then in the Medicare system, by multiple of 10, The anti-fraud and abuse division of Medicare is actually very successful relative to those of private insurance companies, bringing in much more annually in return of fraudulent funds than it cost to pursue those committing fraud.

Medicare is now mostly run by private entities. The free market and healthcare in America should never be used in the same sentence.

You mean when you get your oil changed, or tires rotated, or brakes replaced, you don't call your auto insurance agent?

    Whouda thunk it?

And higher income tax, but no $1,200 per month health insurance bill for a family of five, lower infant mortality rate, longer life span and better outcomes at half the cost, but who is comparing.

Statistically, waiting to see a specialist may be better for your long term health than seeing one right away

Bald face lie. Where is your proof that it is .45 on the dollar?

You have none. And there has been plenty of proof Medicare loses tens of billions a year to fraud.

Do liberals ever tell the truth?.
