Objective studies examining tort reform have repeatedly concluded that malpractice litigation and settlements have very little impact on healthcare costs.

I have posted these links over the years whenever this subject comes up, but won't anymore. Doubters: Google it.

I don't like to get into lib v. con pissing contests but ... My sister does admissions for an emergency room. When my father was admitted through that emergency room I spent a little time there. People came in and acted like they were at a party Jim! Sue! Pete! How you been? I ask her what was going on and she said they were the regulars that come in EVERY week. I twisted my ankle. I have a cough... She said she was required to ask how they were going to pay and they informed her "Oh, I don't pay". Funny how that never gets mentioned when people talk about tort reform/health care cost. $1000s of dollars a visit times dozens of fake patients times how many hospitals?

Do they take into account the defensive medicine standard that has been created?
