My current squeeze is a Pitt alum and we have tickets to the game. She is begging me to wear my loudest, most obnoxious Gator gear. I may oblige her. I'll report back on my experiences.

There is some kind of sandwich or something that Pittsburgh is famous for, like Philadelphia is famous for the cheese steak. I don't recall what it is but try one and tell us if it lived up to the hype.

Although in all fairness maybe there's not that much hype about the sandwich, considering I can't even remember what kind it is. lol

I don't remember it as a brand name so much as a type of sandwich. The only reason I remember is, I remember a local radio personality talking about how he assumed that Dan Marino and Dave Wannstedt would have a personal connection, both being from Pittsburgh, but as it turned out the only thing they had in common was their love of some kind of famous Pittsburgh sandwich.

Anstro I did some Googling and I think you are right - the Primanti Brothers sandwich is evidently a Pittsburgh institution.

It comes with french fries and cole slaw and I guess the big deal is, they put the fries and the slaw IN the sandwich. Meh.

I wouldn't do it. Now, if it was say . . . Ohio St vs. Tenn - Gator on!

Good luck. The Pitt folks prolly won't mind Gator gear, but if you get ribbed, try to take it well.

They do make a good sandwich, I prefer Fatheads down at SouthSide where I work. My girl is a Pitt alum but loves the Gators. She was married to a Gator for 9 years and lived in Ocoee for 15, so she is a Floridian in my book. She moved back up to Pittsburgh in 2008 after her divorce. I do love it here, moved here with then wife in 2006, kids settled into schools and put down roots. People here are stern and serious but friendly and down to earth at the same time. I will never be a Yinzer though, a term for someone who uses the local dialect and loves Steeler football. I will always call it SODA not pop, I say ya'll instead of yinz, I have a roof on my house not a ruf on my haus and its downtown not donton.
