It must chafe that the most advanced of all countries is in the grey on that map, though, thusly stabbing the idea that advanced = single payer to its well-deserved death :)

There are plenty of ways to be under tyranny, and it comes in both the "advanced" and "unadvanced" flavors, but freedom is pretty much just a thing unto itself.

Beck predicted this from the outset. Now the overpaid fat white people that dominate the liberal media are catching up.

Well, no offense to Beck, but it doesn't take Kreskin to predict that ObamaCare was meant to get us to single payer when we have Obama's recorded comments that the goal was to get to single payer but there would have to be this process first.

Seriously, it feels like it wasn't a month ago that this exact conversation -- about ObamaCare existing solely as a pretext to create conditions favorable to sweep in single payer totalitarian healthcare -- was dismissed as conspiracy theory. Now it's a bragging point?

I am sure we could spend ALOT less under single payer---but hundreds of thousands would lose job in insurance industry ( fine with me but why obama talks only about saving SOME jobs but not others?).

Also--I have lived and worked in both systems----both can function well---but you better LOWER your expectations in single payer----private rooms so your S.O can stay with you?
    Forget it.

On demand epidural for labor? Unh unh

    Patient autonomy? No

Patient satisfaction driven care? Aint happening.

Will overall health metrics be good---sure.
Will you get same choices, comfort, and autonomy---NO.

Please come back after you graduate and start paying your own bills. Your anti profit schtick is getting old. And I know...I will get a retort saying "I'm not against profit". Bull$hit.

No chit Sherlock, we could have told him that years ago. Hussein has been wanting a single payer system since what '97?

Do you want their rate of income taxation if we get to a single payer system before reforming entitlements and the tax code?

What makes us the most advanced?

Transportation system? Nope. Broadband access? Nope. Access to healthcare? Nope. I guess we have the best military and best technology for killing people, but I wouldn't call that advanced.

I'd say we're the best country, subjective as that may be, but we're not the most advanced unless you have some other measure.

The thinking seems to be that reducing our standards is OK, as long as we're all equally miserable and some Americans don't get away with having "too much".

On topic, Reid's statement is certainly no revelation but I guess you have to give him a little credit for admitting where we're headed.

These libbies that "want government to do everything for them" aren't planning on paying taxes. They are counting on you and I and their neighbors to pay their tab. Because they are entitled. And of course the libbie "elites" or "Teddy Kennedy" libbies benefit from their father or grandfather or someone (not them) having succeeded financially so they have their trust fund administrator doling out their "allowance" and as long as that keeps coming they are oblivious to tax rates.
