Comparing them as true frosh, VH3. As others have mentioned that was Haden's first year at CB.

If you're comparing a CB to Haden you've got a good situation, whether he is better or not.

    I don't think so

Haden was an obvious talent but was in a sense thrown to the wolves his freshman year. He had a lot of issues in coverage particularly against quick slant patterns. Even towards the end of the season those Michigan receivers just ate his lunch.

But he learned and developed into a strong cover corner.

I really think that Janoris was better than Haden as a freshman.

VGIII is like a freak of nature talent.....he was a top cover corner the day he stepped on to the field. He has the most unbelievable technical skills I have ever seen. His footwork is perfect. He can cover either side of the field. I don't remember him getting burned or making one obvious mistake all season.

Not sure about size...but I think he was NFL ready skill wise, last season. I've never seen anything quite like him as a freshman corner.

I agree that Janoris was better than Haden as a freshman......not sure if I could say he was better than VGIII

I know that Janoris started and VGIII was primarily the 3rd corner, but in reality VGIII should've been playing over Purifoy

You're thinking of Roberson last year. Agree on Purifoy... and he really needed to stay another year IMO.

I'd take Haden right now, no question. His all around game at this point is extremely impressive. He was good against the run and the pass, and was very good tackling in space.

Lito Sheppard always had a knack for making big plays though. Really big plays.

Lito to me was the best corner from start to finish in his Gator career.....right now probably the best Gator corner to play in the NFL. Haden of course can't pass Lito as Gator but of course can become the best Gator alumni CB ever to play in the NFL.

Janoris had the opportunity but things unfolded as they did

VGIII can go past all of them

Pick your poison. Why not ask Dunbar, who has probably practiced against both.

Our two best FRESHMAN CBs ever are probably VHIII and Janoris Jenkins. Lito and Haden weren't that great as freshmen.

Speaking of Janoris think about this.. Janoris failed multiple drug test at UF got kicked off the team for a weed arrest then went to D2 where he admitted he continued to smoke weed and he was still taken in the 2nd round. That is how good Janoris is/was

There is a very, very legitimate argument for Larry Kennedy.

That may very well be true, but I was 9 years old his freshman year, so I can't compare.

This. Dude would've gone top 10 like Haden had he not been such a head case. Just look at what he did in his rookie year compared to Milliner and Hayden.

Eh, Kennedy was good. Maybe even better than Haden as a freshman. But I would put him more on the level with Roberson.

Roberson was also better than Haden as a freshman

Kennedy was a star as a freshman. Now he sort of flamed out. But he was a star as a freshman.

Agreed.. the real comparison here is Janoris vs. VH3 as freshman. Haden was picked on as a freshman see Auburn, see Michigan. He was playing 10 yards off and getting lit up. He had a huge turn-around from year 1 to year 2... awesome athletic ability + great coaching from Vance Bedford.

I hate this type of question because alot depends on coaching and the level of competition and you guys only go backa few years..I think each guy is or was a great player. Give each one credit and then give the incoming guys some play too. Since the age of all of the web sites and BS sites ...somettimes it may bring a negative feeling that shouldn't be.

I like this kind of question for the reasons you mentioned. It gives people who have been around to jump in a say "Hold on." And then throw a name like Larry Kennedy out there, a guy who had a great freshman year as a corner.
Lastly, negative people are going to find a way to be negative. Whether it is this thread or any thread.

If we are comparing Haden's freshman year to VHIII's freshman year. No question VHIII blew Haden away. Haden didn't really become rock solid until his last year.
If you were to ask me who would I take right now as a CB, a proven Haden or a potentially great VHIII.....easy answer: Haden. Top 2 or 3 CB in the league RIGHT NOW. VHIII has potential, but isn't there yet.
