UF went 0-10-1 my 1st year in Gainesville.

Over the years, I've learned that football seasons are very short and that they fly by. We lost yesterday but yesterday was a very fun day in the SEC. Yeah we looked bad and losing hurts but there were also some very great games around the SEC. NO school wins 'em all. NO school wins every year. We'll be back (someday) but ya gotta enjoy all that college football delivers.

    I intend to:
    root on my Gators
wear my Gator gear with great pride
root against GA, FSU and Ohio State
    root for lots of underdogs
    enjoy everything that happens

    Have fun out there.

So true. 0-10-1 was my jr. year at UF and I will go to the Georgia game, Homecoming, and the Georgia Southern game. I will enjoy seeing old friends and my daughter who is a current student. I will wear my Gator gear with pride and because my PERSONAL sense of self esteem is not tied up with whether or not the Gators won a football game, I will be a much happier person than most of the rest of you.

My sense of self esteem is tied to Gator football. I have not been the same since we got spanked by the scum. We are looking like fools right now.

1979 was my first year as Gainesville as well. With the exception of enjoying whatever happens, I'm with ya! Love to see the SEC stumbling around with us, however. No love at all for the SEC.

Nope, I'm pretty much over loses :30 after the game.

I cherish game days, but I don't let them effect my outlook on life.

I love it for the real life drama, sport, etc., but I don't let it validate me as a human being.

I am happy that you can sort through this mess but I am surrounded by the enemy. I feel like Ft. Sumter. I can't even go to Publix without getting that sick UM grin in my face and then it all flashes back. I want to take my Italian sub and...well getting worked up here.

Lol, you let other fans get to you? Just tell them they have the greatest team ever and move on with life. It's not worth getting worked up over. I'm genuinely concerned about fsu winning a title, but nothing else is worth worrying about. Even if that happens, life will go on.

0-10-1 in 79'. My sophomore year at UF. Attended Memphis State right out of the Navy and doing the GI Bill and transferred back home to UF. My "70 something" (parts from multiple years) Iron Head Sportster I bought from a shipmate was my mode of transport. Had long hair and a beard and was loving life and my share of co-eds. I was a Soph but I was 3 yrs older than most in my class. Lived out near Interlachen on some property with a couple buddies that were majoring in Horticulture at the Ag school. I was just glad to be at UF and not sitting on some tin can in the Western Med or Indian Ocean during the Iran Hostage shit. There were rumors of reserve call ups and on campus a few incidents of Black Trans Ams getting their windows smashed because a lot of the Iranian exchange students drove them. Know of one guy who was from Ocala and a USMC vet that got his whacked, even with USMC stickers on the thing. No one really cared about the football record, we all knew that Dickey had deep sixed the program at that point. We had a blast, we were obnoxious and usually pretty high.

I used to get so incredibly tied up in how sports teams performed. A loss or victory would greatly impact my life for days after. Now, as soon as the final whistle blows it is forgotten and there's plenty of other things to do. I like to come here to be reminded of how I once was so that I'll never be that way again.

I find it amazing to realize I once thought how a team performed said something about me as a human being. If that was true then all you have to do is become a bandwagon fan and pull for the best team each year. That way you'll always be an "incredible" person, lol.

Now you can tell me with a straight face that this team's performance is not depressing?

I was a Navy vet when I began at Florida in 1962. We had some decent years before SOS came to town but he spoiled us by winning so much.Young Gators today haven't experienced many disappointments until now and and with RZ. Injuries have plagued us this year (to critical players) and that along with a lack of solid play calling have sent us down the road of no return unless guys get healthy and the Olne beigins to play even average. Somthing has to change fast!
