Nothing builds character and greatness like adversity. This is just me, but I think Jeff has the most complete skill set of any QB to every play for UF. He completed just enough unbelievable passes and has made more than enough great runs to imagine him taking this team a long way over the next two years. I have no issue with his poor games. He learned the position as a junior in high school, was cheated out of a redshirt year, and wasn't healthy when last year's season began. His determination to rehab this quickly is a testament to his character. Getting out there for spring practice will make a huge difference getting him ready to lead the team next season.

Lastly, for a QB, there is no such thing as down-time. Watching film is extremely valuable. You get to visualize yourself back there in the pocket, recognizing or not recognizing the coverage, making the right or wrong decision based on what you saw or didn't see. Spring will be his opportunity to get his body moving again, regain his muscle memory, run a little, but most important, work on his touch, velocity and accuracy.

There's nothing like an injury and rehab to make you more self-aware of your body mechanics and more tenacious. Everything in that article indicates that Jeff is taking life's lemons and making lemonade, or better yet, Gatorade.

FWIW, I was one of the people on the side of the other QB in Driskel's class. I wish both of them success, but I think we have the QB we were meant to have. I always thought that Driskel had the higher ceiling and figured by now he would have taken over.

Driskel's football IQ and leadership skills are less than desirable. Time to get Grier and Harris ready to compete.
    Muschamp's last chance.

How well uf does will depend on how well JD and the OL does. I anticipate a better JD, I think he will also do better with better coaching and an O that best suit his skill set. Listen, I don't care who played qb for uf, our OL stunk. Our qb's had zero security, so yeah, after so many hits you do hear footsteps. AJ for bama was a good qb, but when his line couldn't block OU, he was average at best. I think its unfair to judge JD or any of our qbs when we had such a dysfunctional OL and predictable play calling. I think if our OL can play better it will show up in our qb play.

Oh man, that right calf really atrophied. I remember thinking mine looked bad when I had a severe sprain, but the difference wasn't nearly as noticeable as his.

The kid slid short of a first down to avoid injury and Urbie went apeshit. Is that what you are talking about???

Bayou certainly could have been more diplomatic in stating his opinion, but I think skepticism is reasonable at this point. Personally, I'm not convinced that the injury has placed a chip on his shoulder and instilled a killer instinct in him. But I do hold out hope that Roper's arrival can bring out more of his potential and keep his head out of the way of his exceptional physical talents.

I feel for the kid. I snapped my ankle just a couple months before Driskel did. I think he will have some problems running in the spring even if he claims 100%, but he should be at true 100% by summer.

A new OC, a TE who can catch and more size and athleticism on the OL should allow Driskel to showcase his talent in 2014. The schedule is a killer but the team ought to be ready to get rid of the baggage from last year. It will be great to have 3 QB's on the roster with SEC ability for the first time in years - even if 2 of them are freshmen. Here's to a great year of QB play and offensive coaching. Together they can make a world of difference.

Agree... And don't forget that we had an unbelievable number of players injured for the whole year last season that will also be healthy and ready to contribute this coming season.

We have a new offense and it will be geared toward our player's strengths.

If anyone does not realize the success of any QB is directly related to the offensive strategy and efficient use of players, they are not qualified to comment on how any QB will perform....let alone ours.

With Coach Roper on board...and Driskel's skill set...along with our new linemen and skill players on offense...we will be LETHAL this season!

I pity the team that goes up against Driskel and our team!

We are going to kick so much ass this season there will be mayhem, broken hearts, shattered dreams, and bloodshed in abundance.

    Go Gators!
