Isn't Fulmer still looking for work?
Exactly....the San Francisco bay area may just be the best place on earth to live.
He's probably had enough of coaching under the shadow of Bruce Pearl. With Pearl at Auburn, there would be constant comparisons. If Auburn beats UT, UT fans won't let Cuonzo forget that they wanted Pearl back at UT.
He did not get offered from Marquette is what reporters are saying.
Out Kicked the Coverage has an article sighting Pearl as saying recently that the Tenn program is the second best program in the SEC.
2nd??? Ahead of Florida? No. Ahead of UK? No.
3rd or 4th maybe.
I'd be fine with Pearl going back to UT. He's overrated.
The only worry for the Gators is Kentucky, which is reloading with top talent while we're losing four veteran starters.
Pearl dumping little cheating aubie before coaching a game would be hysterical, sadly I doubt he does.
Kiffened again. Couldn't happen to a nicer group of people without teeth.
Opinions vary I guess, but I am thinking you are really wrong about Pearl's ability. There is a reason Pearl is coaching again after screwing up twice. You seem pretty sure about it though as you posted it twice!
What has Tennessee ever done in the NCAA tournament? Nothing!
Most of the Vols best sec basketball tradition ("Bernie & Mac show') occurred in a span of 4-5 years during the late 1970s. When did the vols last win an sec Tourney championship? Way back in the 1970s!
UF has won four (2014 is the latest) of them in the last decade & so much more. The Gators have been relevant since the '80s (1st SEC title), '90s (1st Final4), 2000s (3 more Final 4's, 3 SEC reg. & 3 SEC tourney titles), & 2010s (3 more SEC titles, 3 Elite 8s, 1 Final4) - & the '10s haven't ended yet!
Kentucky, Florida and perhaps Arkansas & LSU are the most nationally relevant SEC programs in college basketball today.
After numerous NCAA invites (> 20), programs like Tennessee, Alabama, & Missouri are still trying to reach their first Final Four. The Gators have still not reached their 20th NCAA appearance yet - talk about doing more with less!
Good for him. I don't understand why UT hated Martin so much? It was crazy. The talking heads finally stopped after they had a good run in the NCAA. I don't blame him for making a lateral move. He could feel the pressure. Hope this teaches them another lesson. You appreciate what you have today because you never know what can happen the next day.
He meant both mens and womens basketball combined. He was talking about their women's program, obviously...
Pearl will not be pulling an end-around on AU.
UT will hire Michael White.
You heard it here first.
While I'd much rather live in the Bay Area than Knoxville (if I'm getting paid head coaching money), I agree that CAL isn't an upgrade from Tennessee. UT is an upper-middle SEC program, and CAL is a upper-middle PAC-12 program. Both are solid and regular tournament teams, but neither has ever done much in March and only CAL has a league title (when the PAC was way WAY down and only sent 2 teams to the dance).
I'm surprised CAL didn't hire Howland, but I think Howland's name has been soured with west coast AAU teams. Martin is a solid coach, but I don't see CAL challenging Arizona and UCLA for PAC supremacy on an annual basis.
I do not understand your doubt. It would be totally within character, not that he has much except to be one.
But I do see him putting a team out there where playing them is about as much fun as getting a root canal.
Miller from Dayton would be a nice hire IMHO
Sounds like Cuonzo...is gonzo.
Don't give them any ideas. Knowing Dave Hart's terrible past experiences of basketball he probably reads message boards for advice!
