Not a good development for the SEC. He molded hard-nosed teams that would fight you, Maymon being an exception.

That was my thought. It's a lateral move at best so they only thing I can think of is it's middle finger for the petitions to fire him.

Read elsewhere he was not offered a raise or extension, which kinda makes him a lame duck on the recruiting trail. Wasn't feeling the love, so can't blame him for going where he'd be appreciated.

He was not loved at UT. All his good players are gone, and there wasn't much behind it. Time was right to get out.

Does Tennessee now go after Auburn's Bruce Pearl and try to buy out his contract there? I would think winning at Auburn is more difficult than at other places. This could get interesting.

You mean....after Pearl JUST signed a new contract with Auburn?
    I'm thinking not likely.

If UT were smart, their first call would be to Ben Howland.

I doubt Pearl would cut and run, but stranger things have happened.

I live in Knoxville and listening to these people are hysterical! Given Hart's past and ignoring the men's basketball program they will probably offer a small contract to a mid major coach and be satisfied with that. Some hopeful, unlikely candidates from the fans are Gregg Marshall (Wichita St.) for a third time, Jim Crews (St Louis), Scott Drew (Baylor), Shaka Smart (VCU), and Ben Howland. Mostly just your run of the town coaches you hope to hire.
Martin actually accepted a commitment from a 7'1" prospect Kingsley Okoroh out of AZ yesterday for TN and now he has already switched his commitment to Cal. Also held no press conference and did not tell the players he was leaving. Already pictures of him in Cali. Its safe to say Martin got the last laugh in this one! :D

    Don't get it.

Marquette is a (slightly) better job than either Cal or Tennessee, and he turned down Marquette.

Good for him, Vol fans getting what they deserve. Plus Hart, gave him zero support and is without a doubt the worst AD in the SEC. Welcome back to the world of lousy UT hoops for the foreseeable future
