I hope he takes it to the next level. We need a legitimate pass rusher and he looks like the one to do it...but we've seen these stories before. It's been a while since we've had a legitimate pass rusher...who was it? Harvey or Moss?

Harvey, Moss, and Dunlap all benefitted from having great talent around them. I think Alex Brown was the last great pass rusher Florida had, and he was also a bit inconsistent like Fowler was. There were two games where Brown racked up five sacks and absolutely dominated the OT across from him (UTenn and UGa, I think), giving them the pre-snap twitches and visibly shattering their self-confidence right before your eyes.

Dunlap had a few good games but never lived up to his potential. Easley would have been that breakout guy, maybe even more. Fowler doesn't resemble any recent players. Kearse is the only comparison that's close. Jevon was still more lb than dl in college.

I agree about Dunlap. He was very inconsistent. If he was more dominant he would have easily been a 1st rounder (like Harvey & Moss). It would be nice to have Fowler have a 10+ sack season w/ another 5-8 from Cox or Bullard.

Florida hasn't had a dominating pass rusher in Muschamp's tenure, and was middle of the road in regards to sacks and hurries in 2011 and 2012. 2013 was even worse.

That's one area of the defense that needs to take a big step up next year. Hopefully Fowler can fill that void.

Funny thing is dunlap has to date a much better pro career. Harvey and moss flamed out. Dunlap has as many or more sacks as those 2 combined.

I am very much looking forward to watching Fowler this season. But we have been told that we were going to have a dominant rush end for several years now and it hasn't happened. I want to see it from Fowler before I jump aboard fully. That being said, even without the sack part he is a VERY good player. But adding the sacks could push him up to great player.

I really thought he was going to outgrow his position when he first came here and end up on the inside. I must say I am surprised at his focus and maturity in making sure he didn't outgrow the position he is best suited for.

Oh yeah, he's had a very good pro career so far. Looks like he'll be a stud. He's about the get his "big" contract. Wish he had been that good (consistant) his whole career at UF! (I'm actually still p;ssed at him for missing the 2009 SECCG!) :D
