When Obama was elected he returned a bust of Churchill given (loaned) by the Queen to Bush. When told he could keep it he still returned it insulting the Queen. She gave him an historical gift. He gave her an i-pod loaded with his speeches. Go figure.
Speculation is (as Churchill is representative of colonial England) that Obama carries the view of his father who was a staunch anti-colonialist and hated England. Obama titled his book "Dreams FROM My Father" not OF.
See does look pissed and look at his face in the later pics, that is the face of a man the just stepped in it!
As was their own current black President.
It wasn't just Obama that didn't attend Thatcher's funeral.
"In total, two current heads of state, 11 serving prime ministers and 17 serving foreign ministers from around the world attended."
The guest list:
And the bust that was returned was one of 2. We kept the original.
Just wait until she finds out it's all over the internet! The most powerful man in the world "reduced" by his wife.
Who among us hasn't experienced it?
Both earned and not earned over here man! That's how I could tell....
Need to have a contest with quotes photo by photo...
Ditto. Men are from Mars.....
Photo #1 Obama "Well I do have my own plane you know"......
Photo #2 PM "Did just ask if I was a member of the mile high club!"
Obama "Shhhh the battleax will hear you, crap she already did."
Photo #3 PM "Damn, I hope somebody will send me a urgent text so I can get outta here, maybe I can act like I just got one"
Michelle " Euro trash bleach blond"
Obama " Whaaaaat baby.....huuhh?'
#4 Michelle (over shoulder): ETBB, if you ever......lower lip was working overtime!
Two pages and no Chomp or Fred.
Michelle looks really pi**ed off.
No partisanship there....that's just a ticked off wife who caught her husband possibly flirting with a younger, hotter woman at a "somber" event. He's lucky she didn't go all "Jerry Springer" on him right then and there and smack him upside the head.
And yes, a lot of guys have gotten caught at that...and that's the "wait til we get home, you're in deep ___" look
Wouldn't expect nothing less out of you than cheap shots.
No reason to be really when you think about it. The PM of Denmark has much better taste than that anyway---no way she would EVER have anything to do with that Jackass. She could do MUCH better and she knows it.
I tend to think the bust story is one of the stupidest things that the right wing or anyone really can get their panties in a bunch about. But since you brought it up, it would be helpful if you got your facts straight, or at least not leave out important ones to make your case. The White House had two busts of Churchill, one on loan from the Brits, one the US gov owned. The one on loan, which ended with the Bush presidency, was sent back over to the British Embassy, the other is outside the Treaty Room in the White House. That conservatives cry about Obama putting a bust of Lincoln in the Oval Office to replace the one of Sir Winston that was sent back to the British Embassy is not just weird, it's incredibly disingenuous and just horse poopy.
As for your Queen claim, the reality is very much different than your rather unfortunate description. Seems the Queen requested the ipod with video of the speeches on it. The White House also added a bunch of pictures from her visits to the US, and a bunch of show tunes as she apparently loves show music. But not only that, the White House presented her with a rare songbook signed by the famed Richard Rogers (think Rogers and Hammerstein). The Queen on the other hand gave the same gift she gives all foreign dignitaries, a silver frame signed photo of herself. Not exactly 'historical' is it?
I can't even bother with the silliness of the anti-colonialism thesis. Dinesh D'souza long ago proved himself unworthy of being taken seriously.
Didn't the Queen know she could have gotten the very same things AND the matching CD if she had just made a pledge to PBS at the $150 level? $250 pledge would have gotten her the teleprompter scripts of his speeches as well.
Not a fiscally bright move on her part if you ask me.
The ipod was signed by Steve Jobs.
