yeah I can't discern a difference between inserting a tube as you've been doing for years and being strapped down and having it shoved in against your will

    same thing, right?

Yeah, I mean forced feeding and feeding are really the same thing ... eating. Food go in tummy.

For all the people that complain about foie gras, look at this duck that literally has no problem eating:

It is very clearly a dramatization.

Maybe, maybe not. I think comparing someone who has been inserting their own tubes for some time to someone who has it done against their will is pretty silly.

One could act that way about literally anything. That someone acted this way about having a feeding tube going in does not in and of itself imply that the procedure is unpleasant. The idea here is that a person doesn't want to eat, they're going to protest ANY measure of being supplied food. That protest is an expression of discomfort no matter what the mechanism is for feeding...it's not an indictment of the mechanism itself.

Yeah let's back up, though. Let's look at the assertion in the OP. That's all I'm talking about.

Well, it's done twice a day in Gitmo. They should be used to it. Besides I just thought it funny this big tough rapper guy is crying, and this little girl has an instruction video on it, and she is just talking away like it's no big deal.

I'm sure it's uncomfortable, but this was a funny dramatization. All the straps, make sure the guys doing the force feeding are all white guys, ect....

While Mos Def is an incredibly talented dude, I think his point misses me. So prisoners in Gitmo, when refusing to eat, are force-fed, and it can be really tough on them. Tougher than, say, not eating at all?

My only issue is, Mos, or Yasiin, or Dante -- whichever he prefers to be called by, has kind of associated himself with some extreme views in the past, in my opinion, and while that shouldn't discount his point, it's hard for it not to kind of take him very seriously when it comes to stuff like this.

You want to get them eating....simple...feed a couple of them to some hungry sharks, make the others watch and tell them if they don't eat, one a day gets fed to the sharks. They'll eat.

Yeah that's a really awesome way to force people not formally charged with a crime to eat.

I can just see our founding fathers looking down and smiling.

They are terrorists captured on the battlefield. The war ain't over. They can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned. Those raghead's "friends" killed 3000 + Americans on 9-11, injured three times that many and the cleanup is still causing health issues for first responders. And their act dragged us into a global war to clean up the filth and cleanse the stain of Islamic terrorism.

The left wants to hold hands, smoke a peace pipe and sing kumbaya. These thugs are just like our criminals...they understand a police baton up their ass and a pair of hands around their throat or a cruise missile smacking their car or home sending them to hell for an early visit with Allah.

I don't understand why we bother to force feed them.

Offer them food. If they choose not to eat it...fine!
It will reduce our expenses for confinement.

I believe its Yasin Bey. Anyways, dude does have some conspiracy-theory views on certain things when it comes to the gov't. But this doesnt seem all that related. Force feeding has long been used to break hunger strikes.

Um, this would be even more counterproductive than force feeding. Doing that turned Bobby Sands into a martyr. Either way though, determined strikers win.

Absolutely. Not only would they not want us to put them in our civilian justice system, they would want us to abandon our military justice system too in favor of one of Pinochet's pet practices.

If they get hungry enough they'll eat or they'll die either way who really cares.

Well obviously our government/military cares, because they sure don't want these guys dying. But then they also don't want to bother charging them with crimes.
